He doesn’t make it look pretty all the time, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, even with the diminished velocity he’s not half bad. Certainly not a gas can. Not easy to get through the heart of the Brewers order.

Casilla
I’m not filled with the seething rage that some seem to have towards Casilla. He’s been a mostly effective pitcher for the Giants, most of the time. When he’s had his command and velocity (100+ mph), he’s been one of the most unhittable pitchers I’ve ever seen. But his command is a fleeting thing, and his velocity has been down this year.
Still, he’s managed to be serviceable much of the time up to now. I think maybe he’s living on borrowed time, which makes him like a lot of major league relievers, whose shelf life is pretty brief.

Saying that you’re concerned about Wilson’s peripherals/velocity and think it might make sense to sell high on him does not mean you think he’s Aubrey Huff.
Saying that you think Romo is better than Wilson does not mean you think he’s Miguel Tejada.

I understand the concern over the peripherals. I do. I know there is stuff to worry about there.
The reason I make the Huff/Tejada/Rowand comparisons is because what I see before Wilson even throws one pitch is the expectation of bad things happening. I see predictions of failure. Sure a lot of that is usual GDT negativity, but from what I’ve witnessed the only guys people expect bad things before they even pitch/step up to the plate are those guys and Wilson.
People expect Huff to 4-3, Rowand to strike out, Tejada to ground out and Wilson to blow saves. That bothers me.
