Are Giants fans interested in Mark Ellis?

Just a quick wonderance by an A's fan. Clearly we have Jemile Weeks in the process of taking over 2B from Mark Ellis. So it thusly begs the question of if you guys have any interest in Mark Ellis filling your 2B void? At minimum he would be a great clubhouse presence and play stellar defense. He may not be what he used to be, but I still believe there is a bit left in the tank that could help a major league team. Thanks.

I would give up a former Al MVP and/or a former AL Cy Young winner.

Chris Ray is not Bengie Molina.

And if they drive a hard bargain, I’d be willing to give up BOTH.

I’d thrown in another gritty gamer who crashes into walls.

This is the correct answer.

Relief! I Thank you for your Lefferts.

yes

if it’s just money, we’ll take him. dude’s had health problems, but not more than freddy sanchez, and he’s got two 4.6 WAR seasons under his belt. much better defender than Hall, and probably would hit more than Burriss.

if its just money

and not all the money owed to him. Ellis’ contract is pretty big, I’d rather spend that money picking up a real hitter or at least a real upgrade at catcher. If they A’s want to pay most of his contract thats fine.

it would be fairly horrible

to pass on Yorvit and then spend the money on Ellis.

If he's free

And picking him up doesn’t seriously hurt the Giants’ ability to make more upgrades, I’d at least consider it. He’s a better player than what’s happening now, and I don’t really trust Bill Hall or Burriss. OTOH, Fontenot has to be back relatively soon. And now that I think about it, we might as well play Burriss if only to see what he can do.

I don’t know what’s going on with fontenot. He’s not even playing anymore. Looks like his rehab assignment will have to reset after he gets back from his latest setback.

he must have

re-injured it, the “setback” is taking longer than the original layoff.

He definitely did reinjure it. In fact, I think he’s re-strained it twice during his “recovery”. And the thing with groin strains, or really any kind of muscle pull, is that they have a tendency to linger on and on all season or more; retweak, restrain, or the classic (like in Frandsen’s case) play on the strain and suffer even worse.

Given how long this “7-day rehab” has lingered it’s already gotten to the point where it’s illogical to expect Fontenot to be healthy for the rest of the season even when he does return. It’s likely to be a recurrent issue.

I feel like this is a question that should be posed to Brian Sabean. By Billy Beane. I’m not in a position to trade for him, personally.

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
