I haven't seen any discussion about Bochy's quotes regarding Sandoval playing some C when he comes back but I don't read through the game threads.
Here is what he said: "I think he'd be fine behind the plate, too. Don't think we haven't discussed that. It's not something we've ruled out."
Personally I had given up on the notion of Sandoval catching again but I do think it could be an interesting idea. I would rather not see him thrown back there this year though. I do not want to see the team put him in a situation he is not fully prepared for because that could lead to another injury. I would be interested in seeing if he could prepare over the winter and get some games in during the spring, taking maybe 33% of the games next year though. Maybe use Posey and Sandoval to essentially split the C and 3B positions which would allow them both to play almost a full 162.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Bochy's quote is just a smoke screen to show teams that the Giants have other options and are not desperate to make a trade? Do you think Sandoval could actually see some legitimate time back there this year? Would you want to use Sandoval as a C to allow a better hitter than Whiteside/Stewart more AB's at 3B?
