Quality PC Baseball game Help!

Looking for a quality baseball game for the PC. I have been playing a modified version of MVP 2005 mostly because I like that I can update it and I have everything right where I like. Also, it is pretty realistic with the stats and whatnot. I'm looking for a new game where I can manage the game, and there are minor league players, and also the ability to edit players etc. Suggestions?

Also in addition, the ability to actually play the minor league games.
Thanks!

Out of the Park Baseball

v. 12 should be out in the middle of next month, but v.11 is only $19 now.

May 29, 2010: Steven Revetria becomes Giants General Manager. The rest is history.

Not EXACTLY what you are looking for but try out mlbdugoutheroes.gamescampus.com

A great game and it’s free. You start with a roster and essentially train players and draft new ones indefinitely. Real players and real MLB rosters. The game is really deep and the gameplay is great.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for

The MLB 2K series is on the PC and remains (to my knowledge) the only baseball game for PC that is essentially a console port and not a management sim. It does include a franchise mode, but it’s pretty crappy IMO. I tried MLB 2K11 for awhile but went back to 2K10, though I suppose that had something to do with actually buying 2K10 and just borrowing 2K11. It doesn’t matter much either way, as you can edit rosters I believe, but really there’s no reason to get the older version unless you’re looking to save money, especially because they have a feature called MLB Today which automatically updates player ratings and teams and allows you to play the day’s games, and getting the older versions disables that.

If you’re looking for something with a real franchise mode and not just a bad throw-in, then Out of the Park Baseball is what you want. Excellent game, and version 8 is free to download and play (though it’s a few years old, but that’s not particularly important as you’ll get from the 2007 season it starts with past 2011 pretty quickly anyway). It allows you to manage individual games, but it’s not a game where you actually control players; it’s a management simulation.

+1 for ootp

Insanely deep. For the latest version, goes down to rookie ball and rule 5 drafts, waiver claims and compensation draft picks. You can pretty much edit everything you want.

Imagine you could have a do-over with Fred Lewis, without the bad routes and melancholy. I grant you Chris Lofton.

Thank you

For the suggestions. Sounds like Out of the Park is the way to go! Much appreciated!

quick question.

Does OOTP let you see the action while you are managing it? As in if I am in a “manager” mode where I can decide to hit and run, steal etc, the game will actually play itself out? Or does it just sim the game?

You can do both

Personally, I tend to do “GM” things and let the in-game manager manage individual games, but you can also manage each game if you want to and tell the players what to do; bunt, swing away, take, steal, hit & run, run & hit, make lineup changes, etc. Or you can just let the game do it. It’s a sim, not a game like The Show, but it allows you pretty much whatever level of control you want.

Im sorry

But if youve been playing MVP baseball 2005, nothing is going to replace that. I dont think there has ever been a better baseball game then that. I still play it also, well modded version as well as the Ps2 version but good luck!
