Meanwhile, almost the entire team went to the Supreme Court as guests of Justice Anthony Kennedy, a Californian and Giants fan. Also speaking to the team were justices Clarence Thomas, Sam Alito and Sonia Sotomayor.
The players learned that Sotomayor essentially forced the end of the crippling 1994-95 baseball strike by siding with the players in a ruling over signing free agents and holding arbitration hearings during the strike.
The star of the show, as usual, was the World Series trophy, which was brought to the court so the justices could see it. It was covered in a Tiffany bag and had to go through the metal detector. The guard required the trophy be removed from the bag so they could see what it was. Giants photographer Missy Mikulecky said when the guard saw the the trophy, a big smile crossed his face.

HA HA HA
Brian Sabean strongly encourages you to disregard the drudgery of your employment responsibilities and join him in the consumption of spirituous libations.
He hasn’t spoken in the Supreme Court in something like 5 years now.
Proud father of Barry Zito. As long as he keeps throwing strikes, that is.
Yep
He currently holds the longest streak (and counting) of not publicly addressing anyone during a proceeding on the court (i.e. he has yet to ask anyone a question). If he wants clarification on anything, he bugs the justice next to him, who I believe is Justice Breyer.

To be clear
He still writes opinions… he just doesn’t ask questions at oral argument proceedings.
… in a way, I kinda dig the statement he’s making by not making a statement. Oral arguments are pointless. Judges almost always already know what they’re going to decide based on the briefs etc. Not that I want to defend Clarence Thomas or anything, though. Dude is pretty clearly 9th on my “favorite current SC Justices” list

At least some justices will side with labor and not just millionaires! Oh wait….hmmm
<Insert rant against money grubbing sports franchise owners. They enrich themselves on the backs of footballs players and then ask for more, more, more. They profit from juiced home runs, and then make the players play the victims. This packed Supreme Court sides wish corporations every chance it gets, it’s scary>
Helping the Giants defense in their quest for the Fourth Out
Fuck Scalia and Scalito
Fascist dicks and, worse still, Phillies fans.
