Pics of McCoven in Chicago
Chicago is a great town, but as everyone is probably aware, the weather could have cooperated a bit more. Nonetheless, it was a fun time. Wrigley Field is definitely a "must see" and hanging out with fellow McCoven made the trip even more cool.
Here are some of the pics we took. Anyone else who took pics, please post 'em!

Then it was off to The Gingerman, a bar about a block away to meet up with North Side Chicago Expatriate Giants Fan and his lovely Mandy
Your eyes are all glowing! In your drink is the spirit of Harry Caray, and he’s trying to escape through your occipital ducts!
Oh, is this near drink for me? Why, it looks like just what I drink. Thanks. I’ll sit down even though your souls have been consumed by Cubfoolery. It’s not your faults. Gallo’s the name. I’m not from around here.

Then we headed to the yard
Hmmm
Your seats were dangerously close to the alcohol-free seats. Dangerously.

Carol’s Pub is a 4am (5am Saturdays!) bar on the North Side that was once a favorite of transplanted hillbillies, later became a big late-night hipster hangout, and then was discovered by the frattier among us. Anyway, they have a live old country music band a few nights a week. It’s kitschy, divey, and fun.
So one night around 2am I am in Carol’s Pub, and who shows up but Ronnie Woo-Woo. And he’s in full Cubs uniform, of course, because he’s Ronnie Woo-Woo. He proceeded to dance with all the girls, because the girls really want to dance, and because he’s Ronnie Woo-Woo.

Sunday's game was postponed, but that wasn't reason to enough to cancel a McCoven meet-up at The Cubby Bear:

Left to right: IanRogue, Mrs. Rogue, The Enchanter, Mr. Enchanter, Mrs. Goofus and Goofus
Oddly enough, they had no breakfast food or coffee drinks, but had EXCELLENY Bloody Marys
We then took a group shot in front the yard…why are these people smiling when the game was canceled?

This was followed by The Enchanters and Goofuses heading downtown for pizza while the Rogues checked out the yard
The thong is, it happened.

It was great meeting Mr. and Mrs. Goofus
Top-notch peoples, I tell you!
Sorry I missed out on Sunday. I was trying to get out of something else that morning, and then the game was called. I just had to give up after that.
Anyone coming back in June? I promise our weather will be better…. actually I’m not going to promise anything but warmer. Warmer I can promise.

We’re trying do decide whether it’d be even the slightest bit conceivable to take a real quick flight out for the make-up game and then fly back, because if we can’t resell our tickets we just have to eat the money. Stubhub only gives refunds for cancelled games, not rescheduled ones. And since this would be a Tuesday afternoon game instead of a Sunday game, there’s basically no chance we could sell them for enough to recoup what we paid.
But considering how expensive it is to fly to and from Chicago… I think we’re pretty well screwed whichever we do =/
I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.
Too bad I have tickets for both games that day. I would buy them. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Goofus, you do the Wrigley Field tour or did you do that before?

Thanks for posting these Goofus. It was great to hang out with you and Mrs. Goofus on Sunday. How was the Navy Pier?
The San Francisco Giants are the World Champions.
Yeah, it was fun hangin'
Navy Pier was kinda neat, but a lot of the stuff outside was closed. It was really cold and really really really windy out on the pier. If you were facing the wind and jumped straight up, you’d land about a foot and half back from your starting point.
You could also lean way forward.
The thong is, it happened.

I’ve got family in Minnesota, which is where we started our trip, but none that I know of in the Chicago area.
I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.
Just got back into CA yesterday
It was a real bummer that the Sunday game got postponed, but it was a blast at the Cubby Bear.
This was part of a 10-day, 5-ballpark trip that we took, and of course the only one that gets rained out is the Giants game…
I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.
Looks like you all had fun
Because the weather was so bad the night before, we decided to wait to leave for the park in case of a rain delay. We didn’t want to sit around for hours. We were leaving the hotel when we found out the game was postponed, so we went to the Field Museum instead. Who knows maybe next time.
I’m still in Chicago and went to a White Sox game last night. I did get to see 2 ballgames afterall, just not the ones originally scheduled.
I haven’t decided what I’m doing about the tickets yet. Maybe the Cubs have a charity like the Giants that one can donate to. I’ll have to check into it.

Postponed game 5/15 that's now 6/28
So if the rotation holds until June 28th for those of us who missed Timmy on Sunday due to rain. He will be pitching in the second game on June 28th and not the one we have tickets for. Dammit.
As for the tickets, the Cubs do not a way to donate tickets to charities on-line as the Giants do. I will be calling them tomorrow to see if donating is possible other ways. I’ll keep you posted.

Tickets ---What to do with them
I called the Cubs ticketing and they do not have a system in place as the Giants. In that you cannot donate tickets to charities through them. They suggested picking out a charity to donate to directly. So if you know that you won’t be able to resell your tickets or recoup the price you paid, you can still get a face value write off.
The service rep will be sending me a list of Chicago charities that accept the tickets. I’ll post them here as so as I receive it.
