Tacoma: SP Blake Beavan: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

While batting ninth, Bond managed two of the Grizzlies' six hits (all singles).  He was their only hitter to reach base twice.  Ackley, the Mariners' top prospect, led off the game with his 1st HR of the year.

Loux had a quality start, allowing 3 ER in 8.0 IP.  He threw just 88 pitches, with three quarters of those pitches for strikes.  Beavan, whom the Mariners acquired from the Rangers in last summer's Cliff Lee trade, also had a fine start.

AA: Richmond lost to Bowie 4-1

Richmond: 1B Joe Koshansky: 2 for 3, HR

Richmond: SP Daryl Maday: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HR

Koshansky was the only Flying Squirrel to reach base twice.  In the 7th inning, he had his 1st HR of the year to account for the Squirrels' only run.

Maday had a quality start, bouncing back from his previous start (4 ER in 4.2 IP).  With 7 H allowed in both starts, he has a .333 BAA.

A+: San Jose lost to Lancaster 4-3 (12 innings)
(after both teams scored a run in the 11th inning)

San Jose: SS Carter Jurica: 2 for 4, 2B, BB, SO, E
Lancaster: SS Jonathan Villar: 2 for 5, BB, SO, 3 SB

San Jose: SP Kelvin Marte: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
San Jose: RP Mitch Lively: 1.0 IP, 2 K
San Jose: RP Jose Casilla: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB--1 IBB

Jurica had two of the Giants' six hits, including his first XBH of the year.  He's off to a bit of a slow start with a .182 AVG and 2 E in six games.  Villar, whom Baseball America ranked as the Astros #3 prospect after they acquired him from the Phillies as part of last summer's Roy Oswalt trade, reached base three times and stole second base three times, with each steal being against a different pitcher.

Marte had another effective start.  He has allowed just 1 ER through his first two starts, giving him an ERA of 0.79.  Lively struck out two of his three batters in the 10th inning.  In the 12th inning, Casilla retired just one of his four batters.  He has been credited with a loss in three of his four appearances.

A-: Augusta lost to Rome 6-5 (14 innings)
(after rallying for two runs to tie in the 9th inning)

Augusta: 2B Carlos Willoughby: 2 for 6, 2B, BB, SB, E
Augusta: C Dan Burkhart: 3 for 5, 2B, SO
Rome: 3B Edward Salcedo: 3 for 6, 3B, 2B, SO, CS, E

Augusta: SP Mario Rodriguez: 6.0 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 1 K--1 HB, 1 WP

Burkhart had three hits before being removed for a pinch runner in the 11th inning.  Willoughby was the other GreenJacket with a multi-hit performance.  Salcedo, whom the Braves signed for a $1.6 million bonus a couple years ago, had a couple XBHs as part of his three-hit game.

After allowing just 1 ER on 3 H in 6.0 IP in his first start, Rodriguez allowed in 6.0 IP over his second start 4 ER on 11 H.
