well, well, well. 11-4 we are. that sure rings a bell with me. i was thinking about writing another post because i am reminded daily of the joy and wonder of my giants being world champions, defending world champions...the possibility of a repeat performance beckons, the improbable seems more like inevitable now, the desire and the love continue and they seem to grow every day. my yankee fan buddies tease me not to get greedy and to throw some crumbs their way as if we are on a four year run or something and it sure feels that way.
i really did kneel down and kiss the ground of the candlestick park (god how i love that name) parking lot on my first visit...i love that our legacy is tied to places named "the polo grounds" "candlestick park" and even "china basin"... in the world of naming rights marketing and high finance we now have to live with the changing name stadium at 3rd and king or something but the venue is so perfectly beautiful and quirky and looks so good filled in orange and black it matters not...and i love the legacy of john mcgraw and big six and leo durocher and willy mays, juanderful juan marichal and willy mccovey....i will never ever root for a giants loss but wouldn't it be sweet to see the celebration at home one day. i promise i will be there if i can, would have gotten tickets for games 6 and 7 this year but for personal issues keeping me homebound in the garden state. i would have been in the lovely parade crowd amidst all the shared love relief joy and grace, the passion of the orange and black!
so now we move forward with so much weight removed from our collective shoulders, fear of never attaining the mountaintop in one's lifetime vanished, the 3 run rallies from hell reduced to meaningless, the past forgiven and the future bright. i walk proudly. proud to be a giants fan, proud to share among you the love. proud to not use capital letters. and proud of not only that we won but the way we won and the way the organization shared the love, recognized the depth of what this meant to us all.....
life is good. hope springs eternal. god bless you all.
