The sadly mispelled Westcott.

Damn

I keep doing that. No clue why I keep dropping the first ‘t’.

Windster turns 22 on Wednesday

we should send him greetings.
In AZL rookie league last year, second time at that level, he had 18 extra base hits in 106 atbats. pretty good

Great name

But his andvanced age relative to league, and the fact that he had to repeat the AZL in 2010, leaves him out of my top 44.

How terrible was the pick of Carter Jurica?

The Giants drafted the guy in the 3rd round last year and he isn’t even one of their best 40 prospects. If you were to assume that most minor leaguers are either in the major leagues or out of baseball or moved to being non-prospects within a max of 5 years that would mean that the top 8 or so picks from each year should theoretically be in the top 40 prospects. Jurica was drafted in the 3rd round and was coming out of college, not High School, which should mean that he’s more advanced. I don’t think many around here were too thrilled with the pick at the time, and for once we were all collectively right. What a terrible pick.

In case you're wondering, I'm working out and plan to be in the best shape of my life come spring.

Carter Jurica

He might suck, but DRAFT POSITION

Ask me about my blog.

by xanthan on Feb 22, 2011 5:58 AM PST reply actions

That's what I'm saying

3rd round pick, not 33rd round pick, but 3rd round pick. The pick looks worse and worse everyday, and one in which the Giants FO totally missed the boat. Remember, not a lot—if any—talent evaluators had him going that high, but the Giants took him anyway. Draft position is important, but when someone bombs out of the gate, I think it’s important to look at what the consensus about that player was prior to the draft.

Yes, but we’re talking about the #40 prospect in the farm system. That’s the equivalent of finding a day old bologna sandwich buried in your fridge. I’m not expecting a filet mignon at this point. And even if he was picked in the 8-10 round, that seems appropriate for this ranking slot, no?

Ask me about my blog.

Um, GT, it IS less than 9 months since we drafted him. And people were really, really down on Charlie Culberson for quite a while – heck, I didn’t have him in the Giants top-50 the past 2 years. A little patience here. He has at least some draft pedigree and (allegedly) some tools to work with.

That said, Escobar. Then Flores.

Hector Sanchez: Underrated. Fighting body bias since the 2009 off season. I still love you, son, even if you're fat.

I accidentally voted for Brandon Allen and I don’t even know who that is.

It’s not the guy for the diamondbacks who I always think of when I see his name. He is, however, an 18th round 2010 draft pick, a RHP out of HS with a live arm and some projection. He signed very late (possibly at the deadline) and only got in 5.2 pretty sloppy IP in the AZL.

He also got a weird bonus, where the Giants will pay part of his college tuition at Auburn
