Community Prospect List #39 Runoff
Well, I guess the 3 day weekend is a good enough time for a runoff. You guys really don't want this to end though, do you?
Each player should have a link to Baseball Cube in their first name and a link to FanGraphs in their last name, unless one wasn't available. The poll will close Monday at noon.

Interesting choice here:
average reliever who might get into some games at the big league level or a live young arm who might never make it above AA. Since upside is sexier than middle relief, I say its Kendry time.

I'm a Giants Fan, but I'll always be rooting for Matt Downs
Where is Dan Burkhart going to play ?
Write-in for Escobar
Just because his top 40 ranking is of utmost importance and I will take a stand on his behalf
Note the lack of a hyphen.
Great work again, Marcello
amazing the way you finished right when we have live baseball news to talk about. Thanks!

Didn’t mean to imply this was the last one. It was just the back-to-back runoffs.
Juan "Doesn't Cheat The Game" Perez, future CF for the World Champion San Francisco Giants.
cool, thanks
I’ll keep voting. The loser of this poll won’t automatically take slot 40 unless it is too close to call right?

Kendry
18 year old in the Rookie league with a 90-95 mph FB with movement and an advanced feel for a changeup? That adds up to a K/9 of over 9. Couple that with a BB/9 of just over 2 and you got yourself a very, very good prospect.
Hector Sanchez: Underrated. Fighting body bias since the 2009 off season. I still love you, son, even if you're fat.
Is it 90 or 95 mph? this is quite a range for a fastball, but if this means he sits at 90 that is good, but closer to 95 and he would be a top 20 guy especially with at BB rate

That wide of a range is not that unique for a pitcher his age (he would have just been a HS graduate in June 2010). Typically these young kids can hit their top velocity once or twice every few starts, but they sit much further down the velocity gradient. They also tend to drop below the 90s by the time they get to the 4th or 5th inning. The thing that sets the typical live-armed young pitcher from the top 10 overall picks is that the top HS pitchers can hit their top number much more often during every start, they don’t have such a wide difference in their top velo and where their velo sits, and they can sustain their velo much later into games. The top guys also tend to have a promising secondary pitch or two.

5mph just seemed like quite a range, but this helps explain it. Thanks
