For me, it’s still between Willoughby and Burkhart. I went Willoughby; gotta love those speedy 2Bs.

just curious

why no Ryan Cavan on this poll? He did get 10 rec’s in the last thread. I would probably go with him next, but since he’s not here I suppose I’ll vote Monell.

Currently trying to come up with my own prospect list (hitters only for now, pitchers later) and…wow. Ydwin Villegas in Augusta last year. .189/.215/.242 in over 200 ABs. Why wouldn’t they send him down? He’s only 19, he should be spending the year in S-K.

I completly screwed up, sorry

I’ll have him on the next poll. I even remember being happy that he was going to be on the list finally, but I somehow missed him when I was adding the new names.

Dan “The Man” Burkhart. Willoughby next.

Quietly hoping Brandon Belt develops into John Olerud, circa 1993.

I may go catcher, catcher, Will’oby

Monell

Burkhart’s SSS issues scare me. If the defense is legit then he’ll jump up next year, but I’d like to see what he does in full-season ball before putting him ahead of a guy who’s already had a pretty good minor league career.

Burkhart

we are way past where he should be in the rankings, SSS aside.

I'm a Giants Fan, but I'll always be rooting for Matt Downs

That's true of a lot of these guys, though

The issue with our system right now is that we’ve got a clear No. 1 prospect, but 2-10 aren’t great, and something like 15-30 are all about equal. I mean, is Jarret Parker that much better than JCP? Parker’s certainly got the draft status backers, but JCP’s already had a good year in San Jose. Parker may not even get that far. Burkhart and Monell aren’t even on the list, and there’s debate about whether they’re as good or better than #16 Hector Sanchez. For the last several votes, I’ve personally had a hard time deciding because IMO there should be about six or seven prospects tied for #25. Inevitably, there are going to be players who are ranked too low when you have a bunch of guys with some imperfect combination of upside and results. There something to like and some serious questions about pretty much everyone after Belt, and once you hit 15 there are just about as many negatives as positives until probably almost 40. It’s great to have all this low minors depth, but it does make the voting hard.

To illustrate, Sickels had Flores as his #13 prospect, and he may not make our top 35.

Absolutley correct quincy. The 2-10 are those that stand out the most with a largely unproven bunch. Going this deep into the list leaves us with votes based more on our particular preferences as than projectable proven talent.

Just driving the Burkhart bandwagon.

I’m so completely undecided here that in the time it took between my voting and coming down here to comment I forgot who I voted for.

I am voting Matt Graham until he gets selected. I think he will have a huge year and move up this prospect list next year. He has a good arm and after the Giants help straighten out his mechanics so that his K rate will increase to go along with his really nice GB/FB rate.

Escobar

Young lefty w/ good stuff. Plus, he came from the Rangers’ system, and as everybody who follows prospects knows, the Rangers’ system is unbelievably, incredibly, otherworldly full of awesomeness, while ours is pitiful.

Hector Sanchez: Underrated. Fighting body bias since the 2009 off season. I still love you, son, even if you're fat.

Edwin Escobar
