OT: All I want for [insert name of holiday here] is:
Since I'm not teaching I've kind of lost track of the fact that it's getting very close to that time of year, I keep thinking it's still August/Septemberish.
So let's see...
Hanukkah begins at sunset on Tuesday, December 20
The Winter Solstice is Thursday, December 22, 2011
Christmas, Kwanzaa, Festivus etc etc
So what's on your holiday wish list?
Around here our holiday list is pretty short:
- Better health
- Better jobs
- Better living environment
- Better decision making for the Giants management team
- Something something Sharks while we're at it
- And apparently a cd/dvd drive/burner cuz mine just died.

TSFGWTWS DESPITE Botchy, not BECAUSE of him.
The strength to move on, and head to the next part of the journey in life
That’s what I really need.
More good music, more good food, more good moods, more perspective.
More travel.
Cap…your age please ? I read that and said " that sounds like something I would say ". I am not a young man. Not by McC standards anyway.

quarter century
Been fairly stagnant since college. I’m not one to emote very much online, because I did too much of that when I was a teen.
But, it’s been a very strange year. Confronting life/death in more than one way, I’m pretty sure I’ve accomplished all I’ve needed to in this stage. Whether that means location, with the people in my life that are in my life socially, creatively/artistically, i’m not entirely sure. But it’s time for change.
As a member of the two quarters club
I can agree with you, it has been a very strange year for me as well. My daughters ( one of which is in 25 club like you) have struggled with various issues. Of course that means those struggles roll uphill to me and mrs. nvsfg.

And to match your sentiment I’ll say.. All I want for New Year’s Day is a New Year. This old one can pound sand.

rec’d a million times.
We keep saying 2011 is sooo bad that when world ends in 2012 we’ll all say “good!”
I wish I had some paper calendars to burn New Years Eve. Just a symbolic little FU to 2011.

I'm really anxious to get back to work.
It’s dull to not have a vocation dragging you around on a daily basis.
No, I really couldn’t have done my job (teaching high school) during the last few months in my physical condition. But I have a restless mental condition that must be addressed. My Christmas wish is that I can successfully return to the classroom on Jan 18 and start the semester with a batch of ambitious Seniors. I was lucky enough to have a handful of fellow teachers (and Alex) come by last night. I don’t understand exactly why it feels like they beat me up. The right shoulder feels like I pitched 15 innings. The gams are sore. What did I do, other than have some drinks? I’m back on the shots of poison, but only at half strength. Maybe I fucked up the dosages. It asks a lot of a common rooster to get mixtures right. Hell, I can barely decide whom to fight or why, though I can make a vast judgement about you. The answer is Yes.
He is the world's most annoying rooster.
Good luck, sincerely!
Having confronted my physical mortal shell myself this year, I can relate… at least somewhat
Thank you. Me? I’ll be 60 next summer. All told, I’m in great health and with a young attitude. That’s part of why I want to get back to my school. I’m a terrifically mature high school student. And I know all the shit they don’t.

Short list this year
Better health for friends and family
New adventures, both professional and extracurricular
Is it February 19 yet?
Beltran
Proud owner of over 20,000 comments. (most of them in the wrong place) Oh yeah, and Buster Posey
Can we haz another parade next november?
The Giants are 2010 World Series Champs. … And in other news the forecast calls for a rain of toads, heavy at times, with moderate to strong swarms of locust and a high likelihood of a world quake. Details at 11.
A job.
I have an interview next week to be a designer at a sports-related place, that would be pretty nifty.
All I want for Arbor Day is a red maple. Best trees ever.
Now is the winter of our discontent

Not to fall in the chasm but, I had a Sunset Maple in the front yard for a while. I loved that tree, it was so beautiful in the fall. Alas a tree native to the North East US, did not do very well in the high desert of Nevada.
We have this “false spring” period in February each year. It warms up ( high 30’s woo-hoo) after the winter snows. Trees will start to bloom and come back. Then it dumps snow on everything again and freezes. Poor tree, it made though fours years of that and finally gave up.
Hope things are well for you and your peeps in TN. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

My ben lost it’s leaves this year. I hope it comes back in the spring. I’ve had the tree since college and it is now over 8 feet tall [and so lives outside] it doesn’t usually drop it’s leaves. I already lost my rosemary earlier this fall. bah!

And best wishes to you and yours, NV. We, too, frequently get a false spring around the first of March – a week or so of warm days (~65 degrees?) followed by seasonal temps (45-50?). I keep expecting the worst, but everything seems to have adapted to it. I never am able to determine if the buds on the trees fall off at that time, and then new ones appear in April/May, or if the original ones just tough it out until last frost.

Rain boots.
Nintendo 3DS. My DS Lite died in September and I’ve been without Pokemon for three months. Que triste.
A cast iron pot or Dutch oven. Not Derek Holland. Something I can deep fry with.
Makeup, preferably a new Urban Decay eyeshadow pallet or one of the huge NYX pallets with the 112 shades. Also need new makeup brushes.
A laptop cooling pad. At times my MacBook feels like it’s gone nuclear while on my lap.
My list gets shorter and shorter every year.
