The Padres have improved their offense more than the Giants did this winter. Sweet. The worst part is that it makes no sense, especially after trading away Mat Latos.
The San Diego Padres today announced they have acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Simon Castro and left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez.
Castro was one of Baseball America's top-100 prospects before the season. Hernandez had a pretty nice season across three levels. Quentin is a free agent after this season.
What a weird deal for the Padres to make.
