On Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1956, Today host Dave Garroway recited a list of things for which he was thankful. The list, he said, was made up of "little things." White paint, because it makes things look fresh and new. Opposable thumbs, because without them we couldn't grasp anything.
Garroway made a fair point: It's not always the big things that make a difference.
I'm thankful I live in a city I love, and work at a job I enjoy. I'm thankful for my co-workers (mostly), and my friends. I'm thankful the colors in my living room go together well. I'm thankful for sweater vests and Sunday afternoon naps and this fantastic used bookstore here in town.
And of course, I'm thankful for all of you (mostly). Where else could the morning be considered incomplete without a national weather map whose conditions are symbolized by the disembodied heads of various baseball players?
What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?
