Grand ideas on how to fix the back part of the rotation.

Obviously, arbitrate Sanchy, then trade him away for an offensive player, preferably a utility player a la Mark DeRosa's September performance except without the f-ed up wrist.

Trade Zito for Lackey, switch salaries, give both a much needed change of venue.  Mutually beneficial to all parties involved.

Spend a bit of cash to offer a one year deal to Oswalt.  Wild prediction, but I don't expect the market to bite too hard with his injuries over the last two seasons.

Dangle Wilson as trade bait for some offense.  Love the guy, but business says he's reached his peak with us, and Romo should be the closer.   You're welcome.

The Giants should probably worry more about the offense rather than work on the pitching.

Trading a decent 5th starter for a Mark DeRosa-type utility player doesn’t constitute fixing the offense? Over-35-year-old utility infielders aren’t cheap as free, you know! You gotta give a little something to get guys like that.

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

Lackey has one more year on his contract than Zito does; don’t really want an extra year of a grossly overpaid, often horrible pitcher.

No not Sanchy, or he will throw his next no-hitter against the Giants.

Zito is a more interesting longshot

Continuing decline is the most likely scenario but Zito is bright and a hard worker. The odds of him going Jamey Moyer on us are fractionally higher than Lackey, and it would be a greater redemption story if he did it here. Trading him for someone likely to be as bad or worse simply compounds the agony.

I’d trade ZIto for Lackey in a heartbeat. Lackey’s not as good as he used to be, but his peripherals are much better despite pitching in a tougher environment, he still has some velocity, and he’s due as much money for three years as Zito is for two.

I’d rather we be able to put the Zito debacle in the rear-view mirror and avoid anything that could prolong the experience, including trading him for his crappy replacement.

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

I’m in this boat. Let the Zito contract ride out into the knuckleball development sunset.

Silly. I mean, you could make the trade, waive Lackey the next day, and still come out ahead.

Now THAT’S a plan I can live with!

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
