Giants Gear?

Hey McCoven,

My girlfriend and I were at the Dodger game tonight (5-4 Giants win on 9th inning HR by Uribe).  Unfortunately, neither of us own ANY Giants gear.  No jerseys.  No hats.  No pennants.  Nada.  When I got home I immediately went to the sfgiants.com site looking for gear.  NO PANDA HATS!?  Seriously, what the hell?  If my girlfriend is willing to wear a Pablo Panda hat then she'll damn well get one!  In fact, when my options are encouraging her love for the Panda or letting her fall for Either (what a jerk) you damn well better believe I'm going to encourage her love for the Giants.

So... advice?  If the final answer is that the only place to get a good Panda hat is at the ballpark then I guess we'll just have to make a trip.  Also, what is a decent price for a high quality jersey?  I think sfgiants.com is charging $200+ which isn't all that surprising for something of good quality...

I would have to dump her if she fell for Either and I'd much rather she have my children.  Thank you for your help.

All the best,

CoJax

eBay, Amazon, and of course the Dugout Store. Oddly enough JCPennyes has a huge selection of Giants gear on their Sports Fan Shop which I stumbled on while trying to find a particular shirt my friend wanted for her b-day.

Basically you can find a lot on the internet and usually for cheaper. The MLB.com shop sucks, true story.

If you cannot find a real panda hat, I would think a large brassiere draped over the top of your head would serve as a passable substitute

Of couse panda hats are rare. You have to hunt down the panda, kill him, and then make a hat out of his face.

I found a lot of Giants gear really cheap at Ross

…but it´s going to be a crapshoot what you find from store to store…and probably nothing in so cal

This is what I do as well. I have my father buy a few shirts there for me and ships them to me.

sfgiants.com doesn't sell panda hats?

well, that’s one good thing about that website, I suppose..

The only places I’ve seen panda hats sold are at the ballpark, the dugout stores, and the Happy Donut near the ballpark. Guess you’ll just have to come up here. It’s better here anyway. Trust me.

I rarely wear hats of any kind because I’ve got a head that approaches Bochy levels of gigantism, but I was thinking of finally getting a Giants cap at some point. Since I don’t really know anything about them, I was wondering what kind of hat people here prefer.

I checked out the fancy 59 fifty ones, but they feel much stiffer and more “structured” than I expected. Do they loosen up over time? And can you still bend the brim (even if it’s less fashionable to do so)?

Some of the other styles (39 or 29 or whatever they call them) seemed more like what I was looking for, but it looks like the only fitted hats in those styles are the BP caps and the like, not the regular look.

I haven’t purchased one in years but I prefer the real ones that the players wear. It does last a long time. I, too, have a big head (I wear an 8).

I wear the 59 fifty

And I think it’s my favorite Giants hat I’ve ever had. It’s not quite as stiff as when I first got it a year or 2 ago, but it holds its shape much better than other hats I’ve had.

I have the brim bent to a nice, gentle curve, which I think looks a lot better.
In terms of “fashionable,” I think it’s idiotic when someone’s wearing a hat that can double as a flat surface to put their drink, but I guess there are different schools of thought

I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.

5950s are the real deal

but not what I prefer. I don’t like them because they have such a high crown – they don’t fit snugly over your head. My favorites are the “Franchise” hats by twins enterprises – although I think the company may have changed their name. 47 brand or something.

they only have up to size L, which might not work for the bochy-esque
