I was surprised to see how badly Freddy has been hitting this season. His career Giants batting line is pretty uninspiring. The defense is nice, though.
This doesn't include his stats -- and the HR -- from last night's game. I pulled the numbers before they were posted.

Sigh. From 2005-2007 he was a really good player. Even last year with Pittsburgh he was decently productive. It would really be a boon for us if he could just find a two or three months supply of Essence of Youth, but given an offseason of surgeries, the path of that chart makes perfect sense. He may have fixed the shoulder; he may have rehabbed the solider, but it’s very hard in just a few months to build the strength back up that you need to battle the fatigue of the long season.
My Bucardo is better than yours.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
Those first 20-ish games were pretty awesome though.

Well,
At least it’s a steady decline?

Bochy: What’s this fancy stat here?
IT Guy: That’s how often they get on base. I do not know why you keep asking me, I am here to fix your server.
I was just looking at his stats yesterday and was surprised by how poorly his offense has been this year too.
At this point he probably shouldn’t be batting second anymore. I think the problem is that there’s not much of an alternative.

Anyone who’s a better hitter than Sanchez is a better alternative. Overall talent level is much more important than your hitting profile…

Yeah, I mean, I’d actually be okay with Edgar batting second as opposed to Freddy.
