Also, do we have any R users here? Any good links for learning? I’ve got Baseball Hacks kicking around here but I haven’t had much time to read it. I’ve heard it’s good for getting into R.
Ask me about my blog.
I used R some years ago (never mastered it though), and it’s useful, but one of my least favorite things about it is the name. “R” is not good for internet searches. Nowadays I use Matlab for everything, which has its pros and its cons. My only advice would be what I give to anyone learning to code in a new language: find some working code that does things similar to what you want to do, figure it out (mostly using google to understand the functions that are used), and piece together what you need for your own code. Then keep repeating that process. I don’t like tutorials much, and find books to be a much slower reference than the internet.

wouldn't hr/ab be a better measure?
It looks like Buster’s 10 hr are being counted as if he had played as many games as any other starter.
Beautiful chart though. I would choose a different cross section of stats, but that’s just me.

I think you should frame that fine work and submit it to that gallery Say Hey Nation is on the warpath with.
Utter frustration and futility.

I love it.
Reminds me of flipflopflyball.com. If you can put the actual numbers inside the squares in a way that’s legible this could be a great way to a compare players and teams at a glance.

IT Guy: That’s how often they get on base. I do not know why you keep asking me, I am here to fix your server.
It’s an abstract exploration of the tension between red and yellow.
