Since the franchise arrived in Salem-Keizer from Bellingham, Wash., in 1997, the Volcanoes have won five NWL championships and seven divisional crowns. They have eclipsed 100,000 in attendance every season.
Let’s see, at 35 home games a season that comes out to an average of > 2850 fans a game. Not bad for a ss-A league team. Any idea what the stadium capacity is?

Although that includes some generous suggestions about the capacity of the berm and family picnic areas.

It’s very small… but they have ROOFMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were like 15? 20 ? rows total behind home plate and no bleachers to speak of.
…but they have ROOFMAN!!!!!!!
Ah, yes. Roofman.
Adopted father of Brian Bocock, Brad Boyer, Sharlon Schoop, Shane Jordan, Jeremiah Luster,Trey Webb,David Quinowski, and Jeff Arnold.

The lack of rows behind home plate is a surprise. It’s not like they were hurting for space. Heck, they could probably do a bit more now pretty easily if they ever renovated.
And, yes, Roofman. Much better than Crater. Sorry, but seriously, Crater is……words can’t describe.

Nice! My dad lives in Salem and going to a game with him when I visit is a great time.
Utter frustration and futility.

Good, maybe now I'll get a chance to see them
I was in Newport Thursday through Sunday. Just my luck the Volcanoes were out of town. I did see the stadium though, driving north back to Portland on I-5.

One of the most fun features of Volcanoes Stadium is that trucks will blow their horns as they pass by, and the stadium’s front office crew will blow a horn back.
They know how to have fun up there.

Yes, we know how to party!!
Seriously though, I think our club is one of the most boring for casual fans in the league. I’ve been to several venues throughout the Northwest League and I must say we are way behind the curve. Not much activity between innings, concessions are mostly closed after the 5th inning, pa guy is really not very interesting, and Crater. WTF is that thing anyway?
I wonder if the owner is looking to sell as there seems to be a great lack of interest in providing true family fun entertainment. Season tickets have gone way down, in my section there’s only one other person that’s had them longer than 5 years. Most of our section is now purchased by people walking up to the gate and there really isn’t many of those.
If you can’t tell I’m pretty disappointed, but of course the way they’ve been playing it’s hard to sit through an entire game these days anyway. Must have been spoiled the past few seasons.

In case any of you were wondering... this is Crater

I speculate that he was created by combining elements of at least two other castoff costumes.

We still haven’t addressed what Crater is. He kinda looks like a dinosaur or lizard with his head stuck in a baseball.

But….but……but….he’s purple.
