Cantu
Giants in need for a bat, blah blah blah. Everyone knows here that the giants want one more bat for this post season run. So I will throw out another name and see what you all think. Jorge Cantu.
Funny the marlins seems to be listening to offers for him, the giants need a bat, and they happen to be in SF playing the giants. Hmmm.
Also, this reporting from Jayson Stark's twitter:
@jaysonst "#Marlins & #Rangers aren't as far along on Jorge Cantu as advertised. Fla not in sell mode but still shopping Cantu to Tex, Col & SF #trades 40 minutes ago via web"
Do we want this guy? Seems like hes having a down year but im willing to kick-the-tires-sabes-style

Actually, I’d rather they sign Garko or someone over Cantu. I’m not sure there is much of a difference between the two.
Ask me about my blog.
Welcome back!

I saw Garko play over the weekend. We still don’t want him.

Shh
Close – it was Memphis, actually. Heat and humidity approximately the same, but no Cabo San Lucas or Mazatlan.

Wow
I could’ve sworn he’d be playing the Mexican League by now.

Q: Did you ever make an offer for Vladimir Guerrero?
Sabean: In a word: No. If we had signed Guerrero or [Gary] Sheffield, we would have been without [Long list of replacement level vets]—obviously not being able to field a competitive team, especially from an experience standpoint, given our level of spending.

Why?
Cantu has an OBP of .309 and can’t play defense. As near as I can tell, he’s worse than all of the Giants’ current infielders. What role would he have on the team?

He looks well groomed...

John Bowker: One of the 3 best OF's on the Giants roster
1. Cantu can hit, 2. Cantu is ok at first base 3. Cantu sux as a third baseman.
He made 2 errors the other day in the 8th vs the braves opening the floodgates for an 8 run
inning for Atlanta. He has never been a good thirdbaseman. First base is his natural
position and we don’t need him.
