Is it wrong that I’m pleased by this?

I ain't havin' it

LOL Pirates. How can you demote him when he’s in the middle of pitching a game in AA? I know, the game’s suspended, but still I have to wonder why they let him start today if they already had plans to demote him. It’s not like he totally stunk up the joint today.

Wow this reaks of utter and total failure

Is there anyone else we can trade to the Pirates?

LOL Bucs Dugout

What a different world over there. Their reaction is to blame the Giants for rushing him:

There’s no reason to not have hope
The Giants rushed him in the first place, he shouldn’t have even been pitching in AA at that age. We’ve been trying to improve his mechanics all season long so yes, if you’ve done something one way your entire life and then you’re suddenly told to do it differently, it takes some adjustment. Maybe he’s not 100% but I’m sure the velocity comes back to him once he figures out the new delivery.

Something tells me the tone here at MCC would be quite different and would focus on how the FO could trade anything for this utter piece of garbage.

This makes sense especially with our track record of young starting pitching and how we NEVER have success from pitchers come up from the minors

Yes they seem to have really fucked up Cain, Lincecum, Sanchez, and MadBum by rushing them…

I mean, only Lincecum knows how to win. Duh.

I feel prickishly demanding!

I couldn't be prouder of my recent adoptee - Tim Lincecum's dealer. He provides the secret fuel behind both Cy Youngs. Also, he taught Timmy the change-up.

Yeah, and the Pirates have just been amazing at developing pitching prospects: Burnett, Bullington, Van Benschoten, Oquendo, Snell

LOL Pirates fans

He’s older than Bumgarner, who’s already pitching and winning in the big leagues, yet we rushed him. As for the Altoona guy who wrote the article, his velocity hasn’t dropped to 87-88, that IS his velocity.

Buster Posey: Let's enjoy him before he goes to the Yankees.

FWIW a lot of reports out of Spring Training had him throwing 84-86. According to everyone who has ever seen him pitch, there has definitely been a drop in velocity since he was in the Cal League.

it’s hard to know from reading a single thread. The first time I ever came here, I thought he was kind of reasonable.

There are two people over there saying he was rushed and then two regulars who immediately stepped in and said he wasn’t. It’s pretty clear to me that the Giants didn’t rush him – could they really have held him in Class A+ any longer after what he did there?

You’re not supposed to promote the guy who led the league in ERA? What would he have to do to get promoted?

Buster Posey: Let's enjoy him before he goes to the Yankees.

by rxmeister on Jul 12, 2010 5:46 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Are you reading the words I am writing? :) He obviously should have been promoted, and I think if you asked most BD readers who care either way, they’d say the same thing. It’s a non-issue.

by Charlie Wilmoth on Jul 12, 2010 6:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Sorry, didn’t mean to be glib, it’s just weird reading this “BUCS DUGOUT YOU ARE LOSING ME” stuff when it’s based on the opinions of two random commenters who probably don’t represent the whole of BD very well anyway.

The "losing me" thing is an inside joke around here

I don’t think he meant any offense-just a misunderstanding

I think anything Tim Alderson related qualifies as very topical on a Giants blog

Yeah I probably could've just posted it as is

Pitt Post-Gazette beat writer's take...

…was interesting (emphasis mine):

Alderson, a 21-year-old right-hander, has mostly struggled since being the only player acquired in the Freddy Sanchez trade last summer

I get the impression he may not have been too happy about the trade from the Pirates end.
