DeRosa getting the surgery
Well, at least hopefully the Giants won't have a broken player for both years of a two-year contract.

I hope he gets a marker and writes “THIS ONE” on the offending wrist before the surgery.
just to be safe, of course.

I have a relative who went in to get an apendix removed
and found out years later when she was trying to have a kid, that she was down one ovary. Apparently the surgeon accidentally removed the ovary, then realized the screw up and took out the appendix. Adding insult to injury, the surgeon had the nuts to bill the family for the accidental organ removal.
Q: Did you ever make an offer for Vladimir Guerrero?
Sabean: In a word: No. If we had signed Guerrero or [Gary] Sheffield, we would have been without [Long list of replacement level vets]—obviously not being able to field a competitive team, especially from an experience standpoint, given our level of spending.

when I had knee surgery, the nurse gave me a marker and told me to put a big x on the knee that required the surgery.

I think this has become very common because doctors have accidentally operated on/removed the wrong limb., organ, etc. Honestly, I think with enough operations, it’s bound to happen at some point.
I feel prickishly demanding!
I couldn't be prouder of my recent adoptee - Tim Lincecum's dealer. He provides the secret fuel behind both Cy Youngs. Also, he taught Timmy the change-up.

I would guess,
that it is a case of getting patients and files mixed up, not actual medical incompetence.

Finally. Well-played Giants. You just wasted three months of Derosa’s rehab.

Thank you
Long overdue but glad it’s finally going to happen

McFAQ for all you newcomers out there.
Nice signing, Sabes!
Why isn't Sabean held accountable for leading the Giants into many years of mediocrity???
Actually
what was even better than the signing was his implied insistence that DeRosa not have surgery just so he could save some face.

+1
Why wait 2 months to have the surgery? Supposedly this type of operation takes 6 months to full recover from, but why cut it so close? I would rather have the extra 2 months on the back end in case anything goes wrong (see F. Sanchez operation).

Not to mention
Wrist injuries tend to linger a long time. Every extra day of healing increases the odds that he will be back at full strength next season.

Gee, I’m so glad the Giants brass didn’t sign off on this a year and a half ago

Apologies
Month and a half
I don’t actually expect the brass to be able to see into the future

So it's late enough in the season they can claim they tried everything else.
