What do you do? Stand pat. Or make a deal. Assume that the Giants are in it (we should know the answer to that in two weeks). I realize this is akin to mental masturbation (as someone posted about these trade threads) But as Rodney Dangerfield so eloquently put it: "Don't knock masturbation, its sex with someone I love." Plus, as Grant says - My fake trade is better then your fake trade."
I'll start. I go after Lance Berkman. He's 34. He has had an awful year after getting hurt. He's in the last year of a contract (with an $15,000,000 team option). His upside is huge as he's had a monster career, plus he's a switch hitter. Getting in a race may be the adrenaline shot he needs.
I'd give up ishikawa and Pucetas to start. Doubt I could get him for that. It's the third that's tough. I'd give up either Gillaspie or Ford. The latter probably makes no sense as Houston has Bourn. The former has underperformed but is a first rounder. It gets tricky if they want either Neal or Crawford. I'd say no at that point.
Have at it. I'm sure Sabes reads this for help!
