Okay, we all know managers are starting to evaluate their players. Who stinks, who is tearing it up, and who was a complete waste of money. The Giants are in a really good position right now. They have really good clubhouse chemistry and cheap guys like Uribe, Burrell, and Huff who are really a big steal. So I am going to do a kind of evaluation myself and present what is best for the Giants to win the West and eventually fare well in the playoffs.
Okay, the catchers. Bengie, Eli, and Buster. First of all, Bengie's time is up. He is brutal right now. First, he is struggling with the stick, second he can't run for his life and all the infielders have to do is knock the ball down and he is out. It is very frustrating. Third, he is not the catcher he used to be. He is lazy. He tries to always chicken wing the ball by trying to catch a ball to his left by not flipping the glove over so he can catch it easier. I have seen that happen much to mant times here. Don't get me wrong though, Bengie was a good Giant but it is his time to go. Eli is showing he can hit and Buster is a great young talent.
Pitchers. Usually the Giants strong point but they are not living completely up to their expectations this season. Lincecum needs to get a little more on track and stop walking people. Zito is awesome. Cain keeps getting tough luck but I love the way he pitches. Sanchez has trouble with walks. The only problem is the five spot where the Giants should pick up an experienced hurler like Pedro Martinez. The bullpen is solid. Wilson is dynamite. Mota was a good pickup. The only disappointment is Affeldt. He needs to bring that 5.64 down though.
The infield. Where most of the pop comes from. Huff is amazing. The best pickup of the year so far. Freddy is great since he has come back from the DL and Uribe is great too. Renteria is back but I don't know how the Giants will put both in the lineup. The Panda is having an un panda like year but he will come along. I don't know what will happen with Posey.
The outfield. It has been crazy this year. Torres has really come around. He is so energetic. Fast with pop. Burrell has been a great pickup too. We should try and get Posey to play some outfield so we can get him in the lineup.
