Now that you've had the pleasure of watching Freddie Sanchez for a couple of weeks, do you see why he was IF HEALTHY, a good pick-up? I'm not defending Sabean. Far from it. I want him out of here. But there is a tendency to blast anyone he gets just cause we are so damn sick of Sabean.
Freddie Sanchez is a hell of a baseball player. He is a perfect two hitter - can hit and run (wasn't that hit and run with Torres in the 9th a thing of beauty - when is the last time you saw a Giants hitter execute a hit and run like that in ANY situation, much less a crucial one) , puts the ball in play, has the ability to gap hit (he had over 50 doubles one year in Pitt and over 45 the next), and hits for a high average. He doesn't walk a whole lot - but that is more of a function of the fact that he puts the ball in play rather than the overanxious undisciplined grip and rip types that we all know and hate. Plus he's a damn fine second basemen.
I just am hoping against hope that he remains healthy.
