We will remove your pitching dominant distinctiveness from the league. You will come to service us in the clubhouse after the game.

Continuing the cost/WAR scaling
It doesn’t make sense that it should scale linearly, intuitively.

Punch-and-Judy — Said of a hitter who tends to hit well-placed but weakly-hit balls for singles. The first reference was made by former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Walter Alston when asked about a home run by Willie McCovey of the San Francisco Giants. “When he belts a home run, he does it with such authority it seems like an act of God. You can’t cry about it. He’s not a Punch and Judy belter.”

The stunning thing to me re: Sanchez
is that in 5 innings, he has only 1K. That worries me – he’s always struck out mroe than a batter per inning, and even his worse starts are better than that.A

In a one run game, I’m really okay with the strategy. Goal was 2nd and 3rd with one out and the top of the order up. Didn’t happen. But that would have eliminated the DP too.
Let's bring the...
I don't like it for two reasons
1) Sanchez is not a good bunter. Yes, he was effective earlier in the game, but he’s not historically a good bunter and the bunt had a decent chance of not working.
2) You need one hit to tie the game! Why not maximize your chances of getting that one hit?

only 3 of his 100+ pitches were really bad
Proud adopted parent of the ball dudes, who have grounded into 109 fewer double plays than the Giants.
Yeah, but they were REALLY bad.
Adoptive father of the enigmatic Michael Sandoval, and living vicariously through his proximity to Joe Mauer and the Panda.
At least he battled and didn’t fold like he might’ve done in the past. I think that’s encouraging.
"We're the kind of team people can identify with," Flannery said. "Our best pitcher weighs 150 pounds. Our shortstop is old. Our best hitter is ... big and our catcher is old and big."
Yeah. But he clearly doesn’t have any of his pitches today. He didn’t get a strike in the lower half of the zone until the 3rd inning. I’m glad he battled and made it through seven without melting down, but half his starts have been really wild. And 16 wild starts in a season isn’t promising.
Adoptive father of the enigmatic Michael Sandoval, and living vicariously through his proximity to Joe Mauer and the Panda.
They’re not going to have it every game. You’re overreacting.

He’s our fourth starter. Go look up the average numbers for a fourth starter. Jonathan is fine.

Yes, but we’re also much more dependent on our pitching than other clubs.
Adoptive father of the enigmatic Michael Sandoval, and living vicariously through his proximity to Joe Mauer and the Panda.
So half his starts have been "wild"
He still has an ERA of 3.00. For a 4th starter, that’s not fine. That’s fucking outstanding.
In the end, America will be remembered for three things: the Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
And Jonathan Sanchez has a 3.00 ERA this season and a 2.60 FIP (before this game).
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

I’m mostly frustrated because we’re all well aware of how good Sanchez can be, but half the time he can’t locate his pitches.
