Randy Winn, on being cut by the Yankees: “I was ready. I was prepared. … I played terrible. That’s the bottom line.”

Adopted Giant: Daryl "Dealio" Maday - 7-0 with a 1.36 ERA in Richmond. To hell with the cynicism: he's the next Lincecum!

Sad yes. But at least the Yankess (Cashman) had the balls to do what we should have done last year.

well, the roles are a bit different. He is basically the Rich Aurilia of the Yankees, bench player, organization depth, and the occasional bat off the bench. He started a few games because of injuries.
It is much easier to cut a player that is a bench filler than your starting right fielder making 6M who was still producing the previous year (and provides a lot of value on the base paths. If memory serves, Randy Winn generated like 40 runs on the base paths in the last 3 years vs Bengie Molina giving away like 100 runs)
The Giants essentially did the same thing with Aurilia, but they wanted a good sendoff because of the years of service that Aurilia gave to this Franchise. I have no problem with that. They put Aurilia on the DL. The Yankees cut Winn. It’s the same thing if you don’t need the 40 man roster spot.

Agree. I just don’t think that his role as a starting RF last season was justified.

Even if it was for some of the year, it wasn’t by September. He still got more PA’s in September than Schierholtz got in any month last year.

The thing is, he got the lion’s share of playing time because that’s the guy Bochy was running out there.
The Giants don’t fare well against pitchers.

Also
Bent is a noun or adjective, bended is the past participle of bend. So I gues it depends on usage, which is extremely loose in our culture so bent is used where bended really should be because “it sounds better”.

Pretty sure it is Bend, Bent (past), Bent (past participle).

bring him back
as a coach or scout or something… we all laugh at bay area cravats and silk squares, but he is the kind of guy who should be kept in the organization. Like, you know, as manager. Or maybe GM someday- he seems like a fairly bright guy. And yes, his spats and cummerbund would bring a level of sophistication sorely lacking at the winter meetings.

Bummer – I always liked him, even when he shouldn’t have been starting.
I feel prickishly demanding!
I couldn't be prouder of my recent adoptee - Tim Lincecum's dealer. He provides the secret fuel behind both Cy Youngs. Also, he taught Timmy the change-up.
