Pictures: Nashville Sounds @ Fresno Grizzlies 5/20/10

I went to the Grizzlies game last Thursday for the sole reason of seeing Carlton Banks in person. (Lame reason, but, whatever. I love The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.) Alright, that's not entirely the truth, seeing as I also got to see Posey play and Joey pitch.

Anyway, here's some pictures from the game. Everything else can be seen on my photoblog. And, no, I'm not just posting this to pimp out my blog.

EDIT: Added photos of Alfonso Ribeiro.

The Giants don’t fare well against pitchers.

When did the Grizzlies start wearing real baseball colors? I like the change. And great pics!

Why didn’t you include your Alfonso Ribeiro pics?

There were only two or three that turned out decent. I can re-edit this post to add ’em, though.

Thanks! You really didn’t need to do that, but it’s cool that you did. Alfonso is looking chubby.

It was no problem at all. And that’s what I noticed, too.

I believe they made the uniform color change this past offseason.

Matt Downs: the next in a long line of decent hitters the Giants will discard for no good reason.

Bay Area Ties in Nashville

Were you able to see Burlingame native and all-around good kid Chuck Lofgren pitch for the Sounds? Chuck was picked out of the Indians stable of arms in the most recent Rule 5 draft by the Brewers and when he didn’t make the club out of ST, Millwaukee worked out a deal with Cleveland so that they could stash this lefty in their minor league system.

Looking at his stats, he’s having a rough go of it in AAA, with a 1.49 WHIP….but looking at the Brewers’ rotation, he might not be that far from the Bigs.

Like I said, he’s a good guy, and I hope he gets a call up soon. But if the big leagues don’t work out, he might be able to hit the road with his backup singers Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks.

Yep. Chuck pitched for the Sounds that night. He was pretty decent before he gave up 4 runs in the 6th. (While he had given up 2 runs in the previous 5 innings, he managed to get out of some jams and his pitch count was significantly lower than Joey’s before the 4 run 6th.)
