Post-Game Thread
Ah. The Giants are on pace to go 162-0, Tim Lincecum is on pace to go 32-0 with a 0.00 ERA, and Mark DeRosa will break Bonds's single-season home run record by the All-Star break.
Google Image Search result for "on pace":

Let's see...long-suffering franchise bringing home a city's first championship? I'll take three. It's a sign! Google Image Search result for "It's a sign""

Uh, well this isn't an exact science.
Great win. I didn't think a pitcher could look nastier than Tim Lincecum until Brian Wilson came into the game. Good signs all around.

All-around well-played game, but Wilson throwing strikes and Timmy not walking a single batter through seven is the most encouraging sign. Not giving free bases is so critical that the performance today is damned fine.
Goodbye, Steven Johnson, we hardly knew ye. Seriously, that was short.

How long has MLB – TV been around, anyway?
Time they got their crap together.
They’re telling me I’m “located in one of the teams’ broadcast areas” yet at the same time their zip code blackout locator tells me that the only team blacked out in my area…well, BLANKed out…are the Blanks.
Also, the small print tells me that Premium subscribers will have access to games 90 minutes after their conclusion no matter where you are…

Ehh, he’s human. It’s not like he intertmittently sucks just to screw with us.
Just hope he needs more spring training, and that he gets a handle on it.

Tales from Blankland, and the Snakepit
They made two thousand, and giggled at besting Gaslamp by 600.
I was going to thump down the numbers – but why?
We run amok with digressions, and while they are indeed amazing in their scope and depth they shouldn’t be celebrated as superior padding. I’ve caught snippets of McLennan (the ’Pit’s Grant) murmuring warnings against utter frolicking.
The contrast between the ‘Pit GDTs of yore and today is like night and, well, dusk.
The early ’Pit threads were vacant affairs, more like descriptions rather than takes.
They’ve loosened up dramatically, but the ghost of play – by – play remains.
They’re not quite demented enough to be chummy with. There’s almost an air of goodness.

Double play ball hit, M’s second basemen goes to tag A’s runner, tries to then throws to 1st. No signal from any ump. Then they throw to second.
It was called a double play, even though on replay they just showed that the runner from 1st to 2nd was not tagged with the ball. And there was no signal for the runner at first.

I just don’t get it. Did he explain why it is great?
Wayne Rooney, 1/27/09: Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man
“What I think the great story is, tomorrow night is two private institutions playing for the national title,” Krzyzewski said. “I don’t know how much that’s been done. I think that’s a pretty cool thing, to have two private institutions playing for the national title. It’s a pretty cool thing.”

Yeah I read it, I’m just wondering if that isn’t the full quote and he elaborated on it a bit. He might as well have said, “It’s really great that two schools with blue uniforms will be playing for the national title”.
Wayne Rooney, 1/27/09: Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man
From the original story
The game’s story is really about two private schools playing for the National Title because they are the two best teams in college basketball. Only after Monday will we know which one is the best.
“What I think the great story is, tomorrow night is two private institutions playing for the national title,” Krzyzewski said. “I don’t know how much that’s been done. I think that’s a pretty cool thing, to have two private institutions playing for the national title. It’s a pretty cool thing.”
Since the modern era, when the field expanded to 64 teams in 1984, only one other NCAA Championship game, Georgetown versus Villanova in 1985, has featured two private institutions competing for college basketball’s greatest crown.

Molina co-stars in Giants win (2-for-4, R, RBI) and once again McCovey Chronicles’ know-it-alls can’t come up with anything positive to say about him. Typical.
Well, guess what? If Posey’s behind the plate tonight, half the balls Lincecum threw in the dirt get by.
And I would also like to say “How ’bout that Edgar Renteria?” (another MCC castoff). No range? No bat? I saw both tonight.
And as for Aubrey Huff’s glove…..gee, I bet he would have scooped out that great play by Renteria. Instead, the worthless Ishikawa lets it pop right out.
I mean, really, what DO you know-it-alls really know about anything anyway?
Come to my blog for REAL Bengie love and REAL Giants fandom, people.
p.s. Can’t wait to hear what that big fat SoFa King dude has to say about me…he really likes me a lot.

what should I use as the fourth move for my Togetic (to be evolved into Togekiss after the E4)?
I’ve got Wish, Extrasensory and Shadow Ball. I’m looking for heart scales at the moment to get Ancientpower back, but if anyone has a better suggestion, I’m all ears.

Aerial Ace might be good. Go with type, take advantage of the 1.5 attack from hustle, and circumvent the accuracy drop with the “never miss” move. The only downside is that it’s a phys attack.

Yawn doesn’t suck as a placeholder, I guess. You can use it with Wish to draw out longer battled. Ancientpower makes sense too with the stat boost.
I guess Heat Wave and Signal Beam are good if you need the fire/bug advantage somewhere on your team.

That seems best. I went with Brick Break as my fourth move on Dusknoir. I went ahead and figured out movesets for Jirachi, Milotic, and Arcanine (wishful thinking…), and that move made sense. Knock out dark and break barriers? That’s good for me.

Had to teach a class, mlbsite wasn’t working so couldn’t watch the giants while teaching it, came home and took in all the goodness. St. Louis pitchers continue to whine like little babies
Chris Carpenter complained after Monday’s opener that the baseballs in Cincinnati were not properly rubbed down.
It’s usually the job of the home plate umpire (or batboy) to prepare a good number of new baseballs before a game, removing the glossiness and slickness. “We had this issue last year and again today,” Carpenter said after allowing two runs in six innings. “There was absolutely no question. … (Either) they make an adjustment or look into it, (or) ultimately, somebody’s going to get hurt.” Carp was seen yelling at the home plate umpire and Reds first baseman Joey Votto during the first inning.

more baseball code
from a recent article by George Will
When the Yankees’ Deion (“Neon Deion”) Sanders barely moved toward first after popping up to short, White Sox catcher Carlton Fisk, 42, a keeper of the codes, screamed: “Run the (expletive) ball out, you piece of (expletive) — that’s not the way we do things up here!”

Yeah but then he keeps Huff in against the lefty.
You have to believe Bowker or Nate will hit better against LHP than Huff, given his track record. (MehRosa to 1B in this situation)
The decision should be automatic when Sanchez comes back, to replace Huff with Uribe in the lineup. But it won’t be.

Records with x-runs of support
The Sporting Green says “Lincecum … improved to 34-2 when he gets at least three runs of support”. Impressive? How can you tell? Is there a table somewhere?

Speaking of Pokemonz
An open letter to AJ Burnett:
Dear AJ,
Please don’t suck against the Red Sox. I know you will and I know you’ll make me sorry about forgetting to bench you, but it would really help if you didn’t give up 9 runs by the second inning today. Unless you can make up for it by striking out 12, your attention to this request would be much appreciated.
It’s ok to give up runs, RBIs and SBs to Ellsbury, though. He’s on our team.
OK, THANKS!!!
