MLB Network's simulcast of the Seattle Mariners at San Francisco Giants Spring Training game Sunday, April 4, will be available in the Giants’ home television market live at 12:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. ET. MLB Network will carry FS Northwest’s call of the game.MLB Network is available in the Bay Area on Comcast channels 412 & 729 (HD), San Bruno channels 44 & 449 (HD) and DirecTV channel 213.
For as much deserved crap as MLB gets for their strange, unjustifiable blackout rules -- try getting an MLB.tv feed of the Giants in Vegas or Hawaii -- at least they know it's silly to enforce them for exhibition games.
Also: This is a chance to get your Ron Fairly on! Yaaaaaay! Yaaaaay! Yay. Yay?

Get used to seeing John Bowker on this list. Manager Bruce Bochy announced today that Bowker beat out Nate Schierholtz for the starting job. "Every time you put him in there, he did something offensively," Bochy said.

I really feel bad about not being very excited about Bowker. But I just can’t do it – maybe he changed his approach, but if you can’t identify breaking pitches, you can’t lay off them.

I don’t necessarily think Bowker is going to hit .350/.420/.600 like he did in AAA last year, but if he could put up, like, .280/.350/.480 that would be a pretty big addition.
of course he could just go out there and hit .240/.300/.400 again, but it does seem like he’s progressed from that.

Bowker is far from a sure thing: our hopes for him are based on (LOL) PCL and spring training performances. However, he does legitimately have a lot of power if that approach change is for real.
Given their 80-84 win base, shouldn’t the Giants be making the high-risk high-reward moves like that?

I dont think this is so high-risk. He’s the one who has been hitting. I’d rather go with the guy who’s hitting (Bowker) than the guy who has to figure it out (Nate) to start the season. We have to start out strong.

if he puts up the line he put up in 2008 while playing bad defense with a pretty okay player sitting on the bench behind him, that can really hurt the team a lot.

I don’t get it either. It’s like the Giants went out and signed DeRosa, whose primary value comes from the fact that he can play lots of positions and do ok at the plate. Then they decided “screw it, he’s playing in the outfield and that’s final!”

I’ve always thought that the iPad wasn’t all that essential since I have an iPhone but I did go yesterday to check it out. It’s a pretty nice device and the screen is absolutely phenomenal. It made my iPhone look terrible afterwards

Yeah, I can’t imagine anyone from either team actually wants to be doing this. Maybe they’re trying to go through with it for a bit because some fans made it out to the ballpark, but that hardly seems worth risking an injury (or missing a flight!). Let both teams be on their way.

did not read above. was sitting in chair and felt some slight movement and repeatedly asked myself if it was an earthquake. Lasted a long time of rolling and rolling/ Was waiting for a jolt however the jolt never arrived.

They are looking to trade Lewis for Middle Infield depth. Speaking of which Ramon Vasquez was DFA’d by the Pirates and he’s a utility guy but was terrible last year but I could see Sabes’ taking a flier on him…hopefully it would lead to a Velez DFA though I would prefer the Giants just avoid him.

Yankees actually draw bigger ratings for them thus push them slightly more than the Red Sox. Both teams have had slumps. ESPN once spent the first 15 minutes of the 6 PM ET Sportcenter covering on “What is wrong with the Yankees” (did 10 minutes with the Lakers a couple years ago during one of their slumps), they never did with the Red Sox during their slumps No doubt both teams are the favorite but if you think they favor Boston over New York you’re wrong. They love both pretty much equally with a slight edge toward the Yankees.

I think it s a little bit funner watching Sanchez, Tim, and Big Suga baffling hitters than a couple of bash brothers.
Take Lincecum’s last start of the 2008 season, that was just plain durty nasty. The no-no also, just the plain confusion of another group of 9 people is pretty awesome.
Though I wouldn’t be angry if we drafted a good hitter, I would still take a good starter instead if I had the choice(unless the spots were full and locked beyond 2013).

Beckett got knocked around tonight but Boston’s rotation is actually deeper than ours.

But look at the ERAs our guys have to put down to get 15 WINZ.

I know but if you are just looking at wins our pitchers would probably do better than the BloSux pitchers.
You would be happy if the Giants had a team that is like the “BloSux” (btw, I’m used to all sorts of insults for my AL team so I’m not taking that comment personally) with 2 titles since 2004.

2010 Outlook
After a great Spring Training the Giants are ready to continue their impressive turn around after nearly a handful of mediocre or worse campaigns. Aaron Rowand had an excellent spring and looks poised to justify why he was signed while the starting pitching, which is their most powerful strength, looked stronger than ever. With improved offense and adequate defense they are well armed for a divisional battle. The bulpen has remained for the most part, intact and is among the finest in the league. The key is to keep everyone healthy and for those coming back from injury plagued seasons to “get back” to the level of excellence they had previously attained. The outlook is very positive and potentially awesome.

Last year, I really got back into baseball and love watching it. Can’t wait for the game to start and to hear John Miller’s voice. Go GIAGANTES!!!
