Not sure about the call to take out Tim...
On the one hand, Wilson ought to be able to get two stinking outs with a 3-run lead.
On the other hand, Timmy just walked one guy, after being his usual awesome all game long. Surely he could’ve bore down and gotten Polanco and Utley.
On the other other hand, Wilson’s a premier closer.
On the other other other hand, he had three of the league’s toughest hitters to deal with, one after the other.
Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher?
I still think taking him out was the right call at the time.
Wilson had been lights out up to that point. and being a premier closer he should be able to handle three of the leagues toughest hitters, one after the other.
