Well I was on the whole, where are you located at thread, and I noticed that one of the commenters had said that they wanted a follow up about where people are from, and I'm curious too.
As some of you may know, I am not from the San Francisco area. I'm actually located in Southern California, Montebello CA to be exact. It's about 10 or so miles from the center of Los Angeles and is a pretty quiet city. My family has lived in SoCal since they immigrated here back in 1940. I've been to San Francisco a few times and have gone to the ballpark and everytime I go and make a new friend, they ask how it was possible that I became a Giants fan when I live in SoCal. Well it's story time. When my dad was younger he liked the Dodgers, much like the rest of the kids in his area. But my dad also liked individual players from other teams, his favorite of all time being Roberto Clemente. My dad had always liked players from Latin America because we were Mexican as well. He eventually started liking the Giants because of players like Orlando Cepeda, the Alou brothers, Tito Fuentes and Juan Marichal. From then on my dad continued to follow the Giants and as far back as I can remember, I would watch the Giants games with my dad whenever they were on TV. He would take me to Dodger Stadium to watch the Giants whenever they came to town, always sitting in Left Field to watch my favorite player Barry Bonds. From that moment, I was a Giants fan for life.
So that's my story, I'd like to hear more stories from the McCoven. Where did you grow up and how did you become a Giants fan?
