I'm not going to argue against the Giants picking up Randy Johnson and Brad Penny last year to round out the rotation, but it kinda seems like we got the middling part of Kevin Correia's career as he was transforming from a reliever to starter, with injuries and all, and the Padres have used him as fairly consistent starting pitcher.
Two years ago, Kevin Correia and Jonathan Sanchez were two guys on the roster whom the Giants attempted to turn into starters. It was pretty clear that Sanchez had the higher upside, but when Correia was healthy it was also clear that he could pitch to get the ground ball, strike out 4 or 5 guys a game, and keep things close the way Barry Zito could win if he got 4 or more runs of support.
Anyway, I don't want to complain about the past, but... we could have kept Correia for a decent salary.
