Also, I looked up Bowker’s splits from last year. There is a clear decline against left handers, but not so bad that he couldn’t still play against weak left handers, such a brian Burres.
Bowker’s MLE splits from 2009 (AAA):
RH: .294/.387/.502/.889
LH: .271/.341/.381/.722

yeah. I was about to post his AAA numbers, but figured as long as minor league splits has the MLEs, it would be better to make my argument with. Admittedly, I was shocked they were so good against LH, since Bochy is treating it as if he can’t hit a lick against them.

I agree, but I don’t blame a team for not signing him. It’s one thing to sign a player coming off of a physical injury, but another to sign a pitcher coming off of a mental condition.

I can see your point. If a pitcher had a strained rotator cuff, then that player would be an injury risk, same as someone with depression or anxiety disorder

A’s had first stab at him anyway.

I see he had a good game today, but I watched his first start last week. It would have made me nervous if I were an A’s fan. When the manager came out of the dugout to take him out of the game, he yelled, easily loud enough to be heard on TV and I’m sure well into the crowd (since there were probably like 5000 people at the game), “FUCKING SHIT!!” It was actually a little disturbing, especially knowing about his mental history.
Hmm. From what I know about clinical depression (which isn’t much), that kind of sounds like the opposite of what I’d be afraid of. I think clinical depression basically causes a complete lack of interest and motivation in everything.
But I don’t really know what I’m talking about.
I was promised lasagna.
sorry about just noticing, but when were you promised lasagna?
Adopted father of Eric Surkamp, the next great big-eared soft tossing lefty in SF Giants History!
by Speedforthewin on Apr 12, 2010 6:53 PM PDT up reply actions
That comment seems more competitive than depression. As an example Timmy was pitching and as it left his hand he knew it wasn’t going where he wanted. He exclaimed “FUCK ME.”
When pitchers curse on the mound it’s more from a competitive point of view.
I’m no doctor but I don’t find it disturbing. I have a few co-workers that are diagnosed clinically depressed and their disposition is completely the opposite of what you’re describing. Again I’m not a doctor.

The premium mp3 players function like flash drives. You just drag and drop onto and OFF OF them. They don’t DRM your shit.

by Soulbrother16 on Apr 12, 2010 7:12 PM PDT up reply actions
It’s not about buying from iTunes. It is that unless you hack things, you HAVE to use iTunes to get the music on and off the player. It’s a major failing of ipods that the really good mp3 players do not have.

You have to organize the music in iTunes, anyway. Depending on who rips the mp3s and how they are tagged you can have all sorts of weirdness going on.
The thing about properly tagging mp3s outside of itunes is that they will then be tagged correctly for any mp3 player. No proprietary BS.

I've never had issues
just keep all of your music in one folder, and make that your itunes folder. Then you just need to move one folder for all your music.

I don't think the need is that severe
Clements and Spencer are a fine 1/2. Brown is a decent 3. So they need a 4? You don’t need to spend the 13th pick on a 4th CB.
The defense got noticeably worse when Clements went out.

I think this site has gotten even more out of control than last year with the pre-first pitch GDT comment strings. I’m not even mad. I’m just amazed.
ZITO!
FINISH HIM!
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
"Out, out, Fred Lewis!" - JCTillam Gamerspeare
I have a sorta sympathy for the Pirates
just not now.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
which reminds me
I listened to the Yankees radio broadcast of part of C.C Sabathia’s almost-no-hitter the other day.
I was really, really, REALLY confused because they were talking about their third base coach, Robby Thompson. I was baffled: how the hell had I not heard of this!?
Turns out it’s some other guy. He goes by Rob Thompson, actually, but apparently Suzyn Waldman and the other guy think it’s a good idea to call him Robby. Okay!
