When is one of these guys gonna admit it and say they aren’t sorry? That’s what I’m waiting for – the player that has the balls to do that, to tell the world they would do it again if the circumstances were the same, because the truth is….well, they probably would.

Eh, I don’t consider what Conseco did on the level of what I’m looking for. He’s been out for attention and revenge the whole time, and thrown many others under the bus. I just want someone to come out, say they did them and they would do it again if they had the chance, refuse to apologize, but try to explain the context and help people understand why it happened and why it’s ridiculous the way the players have taken such an unfair portion of the blame, when everyone else had a role in what happened, too.

It’d also be nice if someone actually tried to turn the conversation into one based on, you know, actual facts….

I’ve been waiting for anyone to not go the “IM SO SORRY IT WAS HORRIBLE PLEASE FORGIVE ME” route for a long time now. Why can’t Tiger just say “Yeah, I had tons of fun doinking all those chicks, and I’m sorry I got caught”? It’s obvious he wasn’t sorry when he was doing it, or he would have stopped, and I seriously doubt he just now realized that maybe it wasn’t so great to be cheating on your wife constantly. Same goes for every celebrity screwup; stop feeding us the “I would take it back if I could, it just never occurred to me during the ten years I was doing this that it wasn’t a good idea, but 45 seconds after someone uncovered it and went to the media I figured it out” because I’m pretty goddamned tired of it.

I know why, of course; they can’t be redeemed without apologizing, because apparently the average idiot believes these apologies are sincere and wants them over an actually sincere response.

Goodbye, Steven Johnson, we hardly knew ye. Seriously, that was short.

There is a pro wrestler named New Jack (who wrestled for the original ECW). He a long criminal record. He says people aren’t sorry they did the crime. They are sorry they got caught. Same could be said for people who cheat on their spouse or did PEDs in sports. They aren’t sorry they did it. They are sorry they got caught.

I'm reading a book about the Original ECW right now

and I just read about the incident in Massachusetts where New Jack cut that replacement wrestler with a knife and the kid freaked out. IIRC the kid’s name was Kulas

I remember that incident.

That one is on Kulas and his family though.

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Yeah

The book said he lied about his age and experience and had a midget wrestler vouch for him.

I saw the tape of the incident. Very disturbing.

The thing that bugs me the most about Tiger is that he apparently told all these mistresses that he didn’t love his wife and it was a sham marriage. People are dismissing these women as sluts for sleeping with a married man, but Tiger actually made them think there was a possibility that something serious could result from their relationship. Then he gets caught and talks about how much he loves his wife and wants to save his marriage. He’s the worst kind of human garbage and deserves the scorn that he is receiving.

Dumped Edgar Renteria and adopted Buster Posey. Biggest upgrade since George Jefferson moved up to a deluxe apartment on the east side!

Honestly BFD. Let him do what he wants, so he can golf. That doesn’t mean anything about his morals and to mix the two is stupid.

In addition all parties (except Elin) deserve scorn. Doesn’t matter what Tiger says about his marriage it matters what does about his marriage. If I meet a women I am really into and she’s all “My marriage is a sham” I would be all “Talk to me when it isn’t a sham/over”

So THAT’S why he was so good.

I’ve been wondering.

I don't know about that, to the groin.

He’ll cop to using roids to recover from an injury and only at the end of his career. Sure. That’s so predictable.
There were a lot of great stories on the Giants of that era, and Marvin’s improbable rise from 50th-round draft pick to leadoff-man-with-power was one of them. But it looks like a fairy tale now, and I don’t believe it was authentic. I hope he enjoyed the $13 million he made — as Missing Barry writes above, it’d be a lot more honest if he talked about steroids in that context.

Old news. The use that is, I don’t think he’s admitted it publicly before.

This is why Mays charges $250 to autograph Hirsh’s book – because so many people look at a memento of their own personal interaction with a player on its resale value as opposed to its sentimental value, and Willie knows who he is and what he’s worth.

I shook Catfish Hunter’s hand once. I suppose I could have bagged an autograph while I was at it, but I guess I was too starstruck at 11 to see the financial windfall I was missing.

Do I kick myself over that? Never.

That's ok, GFiS
