The Giants’ mega-talented catcher entered today’s game at first base in the top of the sixth inning. He recorded one putout, held a runner on the bag and otherwise looked pretty normal over there.
If you have the impulse to freak out, remember a few things:
–The Giants are way short on bodies in the infield because of injuries. And they had to fill out split squads today.
–Posey isn’t taking grounders or logging innings at any other infield position. He won’t have six gloves in his locker.

It’s Tim Lincecum against the Kansas City Royals at Surprise tomorrow. He’ll oppose Luke Hochevar, who was the first overall pick in 2006, the year that Lincecum fell to the Giants with the No.10 overall selection.
The Royals shouldn’t feel too bad. They’re one of six teams that passed on Lincecum to select another pitcher.
But could you imagine if they had drafted Lincecum? Along with Zack Greinke, they’d have arguably the two best pitchers in baseball in the same rotation.
Just think of the possibilities. With those two guys, they might have won 75 games last year.
