MLB Gameday Audio to be Released "Tomorrow"
For any that might be interested, MLB's Audio package is supposed to be released tomorrow. For the past few months, all links relating to Gameday Audio have led to the TV packages, which implied one could only get it along with the $100+ TV packages.
Anyway, crack MLB staff seem to be confirming that a Gameday Audio package will be available "tomorrow" (which they apparently posted yesterday). Some teams (Yankees, Mets, Cubs, Indians) seem to have some kind of fan club that includes Gameday Audio, but I haven't checked to see if any of those are any cheaper.
I'm dumping Extra Innings this year (which is $200 for those of you interested)... I'm still considering MLB TV instead but less now that audio-only packs will be available. I remember a lot of complaints about the MLB.TV feeds last year, so I'm curious if any are letting their subscriptions to it lapse.

I’ve gotten Gameday Audio each of the past three years and love it (I live outside California so it’s been my only option for radio). I’m actually debating getting mlb.tv this year but would be curious what other people think. I bought it at the end of the season last year for the discounted price and enjoyed it.

I love mlb.tv. Toss my laptop on the bedside table at night with the game playing next to me while my wife drifts off to sleep. Then in the morning I re-watch the late parts I might have fallen asleep on myself. Or during day games I can take my laptop out to the backyard and watch games while I work in the yard (or sit in the yard sipping beers and BBQing), watch the games in my office while I’m at work. It’s the greatest thing the internet has ever brought me!

MLB AtBat App
I heard somewhere they’re upping the price from $10 to $15 this year, but WELL worth it. And if you have an audio aux. jack for your car, it’s like driving around with KNBR even where you don’t get reception.
couple new features mentioned here as well.
the streaming video of games will be the death of my productivity.
bought it today
it was $14.99. do you know if you also need to buy gameday audio to be able to listen on a computer. I thought I saw something about it being included in the app, but haven’t confirmed.
I downloaded it too. Looking forward to hearing the Giants’ opener tomorrow.

I don’t think the audio is going to start for the app until mid-march. And as Quincy said, the gameday audio doesn’t seem to work for the iPhone. Luckily, it’s going to be on knbr.
Yeah, I just re-read the description and it says mid March. Oh well, it still gives you box scores.

yeah, Big O, unfortunately if it’s the same as last year then Gameday Audio for the computer will be a separate purchase from the smartphone App.
Personally, I’m just around my phone more often (and have my headset plugged in) than I am sitting at my laptop with headphones in. so it makes more sense for me in that regard.
and when i get home, i plug my iPhone into my main speakers and listen to the game that way anyways.
Actually there IS audio today on the Mets game so there’s hope for the Giants game later.

seems to me
that it must be possible to somehow copy the url from the iPhone when the broadcast is in “background” mode in Safari. Then you would be able to copy it into a computer browser. Of course, I don’t know how to do this, but someone must…
Did I mention that I effin’ love the background mode!
MLB.tv is awesome. Premium is worth the extra $20. Never had any problems with it, and you can watch 4 games in HD at a time. Plus if you buy TV you get all the audio as well.

That’s what I’m thinking (the awesome part). Any idea of when they start broadcasting games on it?

Not positive...
But I am pretty sure they are broadcasting most (if not all) of the spring training games on mlb.tv…so possibly they are starting the broadcasts manana
the Mets/Braves game was on today

Anyone know the best way to get Kruk/Kuip broadcasts in other states? Is there any way to get it streamed live? Just the audio would be fine, but it ain’t giants baseball without their commentary.
you should go "premium"
you can choose between home and away broadcasts (which you cannot always do in Extra Innings)

it's only $20 more
but then again the audio is $90 less, so that’s pretty much what I’m doing.

Befriend someone with Slingbox.
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Has the price gone up on MLB Ticket this year? I show paying $160.00 for it last year… But it has some note about being an “early renewal”. I’ve had it for a few years, so I don’t know if Directv give me a discounted price…

It's up to $199 in lump sum
I don’t think the renewal is any less, but I got it off my account before it renewed

Question
So I got MLB.tv for just September last year and paid the $15 for that last month of the yearly subscription…am I automatically subscribed for this year or would I have to do it again?
Thanks guys.

When you purchased it, It gave you the option to set it up for automatic renewal. So it depends if you selected it or not. I am not sure how you can confirm what you selected, though.

SHIFT A
I have purchased Gameday Audio for eight years now and I cannot recommend it more. (I CAN NOT!) Now as they have raised the monthly price on MLB.tv, I don’t know if I’m going to purchase it this year. It depends on how I feel in a month. It’s great when it’s great, but now at 25 clams a month, in this economy for freelancers, it’s not something I OMG HAVE TO HAVE to enjoy baseball every day with all my dumb friends in the gameday threads.
Brian Sabean strongly encourages you to disregard the drudgery of your employment responsibilities and join him in the consumption of spirituous libations.
I’ll be getting Gameday Audio. I usually try to not to, but then there’s a day game that OMG I JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON! I’ll just pull the trigger early & save the suspense.
Also, for all of us saps using Time Warner Cable:

The Giants Way™"If anybody deserves credit for this year’s turnaround it’s these two people, Brian and Bruce," Neukom said. "The encouraging thing is we think we’re back to playing baseball the way it ought to be played."
NOTE
Doug Greenwald is apparently calling tomorrow’s game for MLB.com, which (weirdly) lists it as a KNBR game, when KNBR isn’t doing it.
Anyway, if this is a common occurrence we might have a lot more access to spring games.
