11/20/09 San Francisco Giants called up 1B Brett Pill.
San Francisco Giants called up RHP Kevin Pucetas from Fresno Grizzlies.
San Francisco Giants called up CF Darren Ford from San Jose Giants.
San Francisco Giants called up CF Francisco Peguero from San Jose Giants.

Dude, so Huff glove work is incredibly bad, and is so bad that it is the reason they are forced to revisit Bowker at first. I can’t tell if that is good news or bad.

by rotorueter on Mar 16, 2010 6:33 PM PDT reply actions

I think Huff is getting a bad rap

I was at the SD game 2 nights ago where he missed a bunch of balls, but they were all pretty terribly thrown. I don’t think I’ve seen a 1b get pulled off the bag in one game as much as he was there.

My Son was the third most valuable Giant position player by WAR in 2009. A little sad, a little happy.

I was there as well,

All three throws were awful, and the only thing I could really fault him for on those was that he probably should have conceded the outs at 1B to make sure the errant throws wouldn’t result in extra bases. However, I also think a good defensive 1B would have snagged Gonzalez’s double (particularly a right-handed one who once played third base).

yeah, does not compute
I was told he would get a long look this spring. But that was before 1B Aubrey Huff’s defensive deficiencies became so apparent, prompting the team to give Buster Posey and John Bowker some longer looks at first base. Pill needs to get his work in the minor-league camp.

Pill was going to get a long look, but the starter looks to suck, so now Pill’s headed for Fresno while they teach two other guys to play 1B?

I think that means they have Pill penciled in for mayor of Fresno (or Richmond…)

Really starting to look like they want to keep Buster on the major league squad isn’t it?

My Bucardo is better than yours.

A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

Buster needs to be in Fresno until at least April 12, 2010

Optioned vs. Reassigned

Can someone tell me the difference? Gillaspie was optioned, Kieschnick reassigned.

by FreshStart on Mar 17, 2010 9:22 PM PDT reply actions

When a player (Gillaspie) is on the 40-man roster he will be optioned. When a player (Kieschnick) is not on the 40-man roster he is then reassigned.
