Adopt A Giant 2010: II (sfoakbay, Ramah71, ACgiant97)

EDIT: YES THREE PEOPLE CAN DRAFT AT ONCE

And now we begin.  Let's go over how this is going to work.  Below is the draft order, I'll be letting three people draft at a time (for the first, I'll let Lars pick his first pick first and then I'll put Goofus and myself up.  If you can figure out that you should be drafting, then you can draft.  But every so often I'll be updating the title of the FanPost with the names of the people who are up to the plate.

WHO YOU CAN DRAFT

Anyone related to the Giants organization.  Here is the 40-man Roster.  Here is the Non Roster Invitee list.  Here are the coaches and trainers.  Here are the Front Office people.  Here is the broadcasting team.  Here is SF Dugout's community prospect list (more comprehensive than our own).  They are not limited to these resources, perhaps there's a career minor leaguer you want to draft, and that's fine.  For you, at least.  We already knew you were strange.

WHO YOU CAN'T DRAFT

Untitled_medium

Untitled_medium

WHAT IF I DIDN'T SIGN UP?

If you didn't catch the earlier threads then you can still draft, you'll be at the bottom, but you still are eligible to draft.  Also, after the draft is over, if anyone just wants to pick a still available player, that's fine.

2. The line at the DMV

The last time a major Bay Area sports team won a championship was January 29, 1995. Brian Sabean began his tenure with the Giants in 1996. There's only one explanation: Space Nazis are using HAARP mind-control rays on Northern California. We're through the looking glass here, people.

by Gabafnerhagen on Mar 16, 2010 4:58 AM PDT reply actions

This is slightly insulting to compare this line to the one at DMV. I just went to the DMV at El Cerrito for driver license renewal. I was in and out in an hour WITHOUT an appointment. Wouldn’t it be fun if DMV insist on waiting for a guy who took a number than went to lunch or emigrated to Russia?

by DJ Tofu on Mar 16, 2010 2:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Here is the thing about this comparison

The DMV is slow because the people in charge have a terrible system in place. This draft is slow because the people in line are slow. And whiney. And smelly.

wow! I am overwhelmed with so many different and competing questions:
1) The Giants actually have a position called: Director, Minor League Operations/Quantitative Analysis?

2) This position is not a euphamism for, “team janitor and ass-wiper”?

3) A kid with the name Yeshayah Goldfarb was actually a division I pitcher?

4) Does Brian Sabean know this kid’s name?

5) DId the job description mention that “quantitative analysis” requires anything beyond being aware that baseball statistics really amount to hits, runs and runs batted in?

with my draft pick.

It was really hard laying off of Jeffery Leonard though. I mean we’re talking Aaron-Rowand-Slider-On-The-Black kind of hard to lay off. I still have a nearly-queerly affinity for him after 1987, doing everything within his power to:

A: Embarrass the city of St Louis
B: Piss off Whitey Herzog, Jose Oquendo, and Ozzy Smith
C: Single-handedly slugging the Giants into the World Series

and successfully earning the NLCS MVP despite Candy Moldonado.

At some point after opening day last year, it did become a free-for-all, but I don’t think there were this many people left to make picks. Maybe a new unofficial draft thread is in order?

HELPPPPPPPPP

Someone will come for us everyone, don’t worry.

I’m making camp on the beach with Dr. Shepherd and waiting for help to come. We will get off this island.

I suggest you do the same.

If God had intended us not to rosterbate, he would've made our arms shorter.

And it worked so well last season.

Maybe one of yous guys should put up a new fanpost with updated lists. Maybe one that puts the guys not selecting on the backburner until they show up? Eh? Eh? Eh.

Really, I don’t think it’s going to hurt WalrusMan’s feelings if somebody else takes charge since he can’t be here all the time.

I think we should all take Wellemeyer and put him on our sig's...

It can be a sort of badge of honor of losers who have no adoptee

Fuck it. Sorry Walrusman, but I am going to make a new thread. Lets see here….
