OT: Webdesign help

I've been wanting to do a complete overhaul of my webcomic site (see my sig or profile for the site), but I haven't had the time to do it myself. I'm putting up the "Website Guru" signal to see if anyone out there can give me a hand. I'll take care of the website space and domain name purchasing. I'll get into details if someone is up to it, but I'm looking for a minimal yet functional design. If that's up your alley, show me what you've got. We can come up with some sort of compensation. Anyhoo lemme know. Thanks in advance!

Pretty nice of you, considering Natto earns 1k per month from sbnation to moderate this site.

Yeah, but then he goes and uses all of those accumulated K’s the gameday threads.

I don't know about that, to the groin.

I just launched a project on 99designs for a logo for my company. Turned out great. They do websites too (designs, designs + code, etc).

The way it works is you create a project description of what you’re looking for, then you say how much you are willing to pay for it. The “contest” lasts a week or so, but you can extend it if you want. Then designers will compete to win your prize. You get to see their designs while the contest is running and you can give them feedback to help the production meet your expectations. Once the contest period is over, you choose a winner and get your new website.

99designs is an affordable option over hiring an individual so it may suit your needs while meeting your budget constraints.

That sounds cool! I may check that out.

I’m surprised I didn’t think of it

Addendum:

I’m considering using ComicPress for the comic navigation, so experience with WordPress could be helpful.

Gawd, my Wordpress site makes me want to throw my laptop out the window sometimes.

I kept my photo site minimal as possible, but have to follow stupid loops.

WordPress is simple enough that you don’t really need help. Install WP from your hosting control panel if it’s not already there. Set up from the Dashboard a very few things. Install the ComicPress theme (that’s usually as simple as uploading the theme by FTP and selecting it in the Dashboard).

Holler if you get stuck, or need some customization. sfgiangst shift-2 gmail etc.

[And when you buy the hosting package, pick one bandwidth level higher than you think you’ll need. Thank me later. ]

Yeah, I’ve worked with WordPress before. I’m just looking for someone to help me design the layout and stuff and tackle everything.

I got curious and dug into ComicPress a little more. The designs out of the box seem decent. And not terribly hard to customize if you know your way around a stylesheet.

Send me an email if you want, and would prefer not to post your design ideas here.

I know this topic is reserved for Natto...

but..

Does anyone have experience with ‘community builder?’ Its an add-on to the Joomla site building software. I want to find an app that lets me upload .csv files to make a contact list from an excel spreadsheet. My union doesn’t have many tech savvy people in it so I volunteered to help administrate the new site. Unfortunately, I know pretty much nothing about Joomla or Community builder, but its mostly GUI based and seems easy enough to learn.

No one here gets out alive.
