I would if I had a PS3.

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Same here. And instead of buying a PS3, I’m buying a guitar.

by sakbaum on Feb 9, 2010 2:41 PM PST up reply actions

You can’t play Blu-Rays on a guitar.

I don't know about that, to the groin.

Didn’t they do"Freebird"?

It’s been at least 10 years since I played, and I was never that good to begin with, but I’d like to get back into it with something acoustic and a little above ultra-cheap entry level. I haven’t gone shopping/testing yet, but right now I’m keeping an eye on the Seagull S6. Lots of people say they hit the sweet spot between affordability and quality. Any recommendations?

I have a real hard time shelling out $55 bucks for a roster update (shame on you Madden). But if there was 1 game worth it, I think this might be the one.

I don’t have a PS3, either, but I’m planning on getting the PS2 version.

The only Show game I’ve played is the ’07 version, and I thought that was great. Has the series improved much since then (besides the graphics)?

i havent played a baseball game that ive liked in the last 15 years. i think if i had a wii id buy one just to be able to swing the bat myself, but the console baseball games dont interest me at all…

The MVP series were really good, they even had Kruk and Kuip as the announcers, but for some legal reason they haven’t made one since ’05.

i really like All Star Baseball with Jeter on the cover, but Acclaim went out of business (and apparently owed MLB a buttload of money for licensing that they never paid), and I’ve had to put up with 2K ever since. I got a PS3 in November, and I’m excited to try The Show.

by tyrannoman on Feb 9, 2010 2:40 PM PST up reply actions

It was because some company that wasn’t EA (shocker) bought all the rights to having MLBPA members’ likenesses in games.

Same thing that EA did with the NFLPA and the Madden series.

In the process they killed a terrific franchise in the MVP series.

it was MLB’s decision to make the rights (mostly) exclusive, though. I’m sure they have a lot of studies about how they would make more money with just one outlet for their games, but I’m still surprised they dumped EA.

This is the one game that makes me wish I had a PS3. The 2K series and the Bigs series aren’t great and I need a good baseball game. Oh well, hopefully 2K10 will be at least okay.

I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360 and I would have to say that the mlb the show games are better than the 2k series but I would rather play with my friends then play with random people so thats why im going to get mlb 2k10

RTTS is great as long as you dont do any base running. the controls for that were the only real fault 09 had at all.

can’t wait for this.

by Tim LinCyYoung on Feb 9, 2010 5:28 PM PST up reply actions

Has the RTTS mode improved much over the last few versions? I only have the ’07 version of the game, and while there are a lot of cool ideas there, there are also lots of glaring flaws.

aaarrrggghhh

I traded another game for The Show over Swaptree in November, dude sent it, and the USPS ate it. Seriously disappeared. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with USPS, being bounced around from person to person. Finally got a hold of the PO in Boston where it was last scanned, and they told me so much time had passed that really couldn’t help me. I’m really, really PO’d about this. I could’ve been play a better game the last 3-1/2 months!!!
