Final FantaMCC IV

Decided to have a little fun and put this together in a moment of haste.

Special thanks to jponry for the super fast response and being a special guest star.

**This video is done for FUN. Please do not read into it. I intend no harm to anyone mentioned in the video and if you should object, contact me and I'll change it immediately.**

(GRM, if you wish to replace the voice "acting" with our own voice, feel free to contact me and send me your file)

(JCB9 : The last "Sabean..." is supposed to be you. If you want to record your own, I can update that too!)

I’m both excited and not excited for FF13. Excited because OMG!!!! but not excited because some of the stuff I’ve heard sounds kind of ehh (extreme linearity… I’m pretty sure other RPGs have been made for PS3/Xbox that aren’t so crazily linear). Also I don’t have a PS3 or 360 yet

I listened to a FFXIII-centric podcast yesterday, and they mentioned that while FFXIII is super linear (the game gives you a mini-map and tells you to go from point A to point B), the characters and story are very well done, and the battle system is pretty fun. That kinda alleviated some concerns.

I don’t mind linearity at all really. I waste too much time when the game isn’t linear enough! (Leveled every single character, yes, even Relm), to 99 not one, but two separate times on SNES.

Yeah, I already have a lot of games where I can endlessly explore every nook and cranny (need to finish Mass Effect…), so one game like this is no biggie.

I’ve failed to finshed a Final Fantasy game since 9. Mainly because I get to the end and have spent enough hours maxing and exploring that I’m plenty done. I’m excited for the new one.

by chilibean_3 on Feb 26, 2010 1:19 PM PST up reply actions

I have really liked what I’ve heard about the characters and story – in some ways, I feel like the characters in FFXII were maybe a bit underdeveloped because the game was so open-ended at times, so this could be a good thing.

My old roommate got stuck at one point in the game where you run into Jean Reno and his friends for the final time, and he couldn’t figure out how to beat them. I think he was too weak by that point…

I started playing the game, got to the same point, and was able to convince them to just walk away, completely avoiding a fight. My friend couldn’t understand how I did it, and went back to play the game himself, but he still couldn’t get them to walk away. Eventually, I think he gave up again.

I'm thinking but nothing's happening.

by lincypoo i wuv u on Feb 27, 2010 11:28 PM PST up reply actions

Well...

There are a number of missions that mark the end of things. The original unexpanded game’s story ended when you beat the Shadow Lord and achieved Rank 6.

Later expansions and stuff added several major stories that could each be beaten much like a standalone FF game (Chains of Promathia being the most prominent). So I guess you could say that FF XI can be beaten in more ways than any of the others…

I’ve beaten the same list as you, save for I (which I am in the middle of, but haven’t touched in years).

The battle system in XII was atrocious, and the ending was a huge letdown. It had a cool world to explore, however. That’s why I have lower expectations for XIII. All Final Fantasies are linear to some extent, but there was still plenty to explore and see. It looks like they took that out of this one, and their reasoning was ridiculous.

The linearity of FF XIII is making me uneasy as well. I disliked FF X partially because of the linearity, and I’m enjoying the more open world of FF XII. I’ll still buy FF XIII, but maybe not right away; I still have to finish FF XII…
