Adopt A Giant 2010
It's coming around to that time of year again, and with the return of Spring Training I suppose we can start this up again. In this thread, I want to get a read from people who had Giants last year if they want to keep them or not. So, if you want to keep your Giant, please reply in this thread.
I'll give people through the end of the week to figure out if they want t keep their Giants and I'll make an untouchable draftees list. Then we can start going through the draft process, hopefully getting through it all before the season starts. Sunday morning I think I'll have time to put together the draft order, and then we can start drafting.
Last draft board after the jump, please reply to this FanPost if you want to keep them.

I am keeping my son, Ehire, even if nobody else think much of his 2009 season
People forget that he was only 19 last year in a league where the average pitcher’s age is 21.6 YO, meaning most have 2-3 more years of experience and development on him. And he still had an above average OBP of .333 (league average of .324) with 83% contact rate (or 17% strikeout rate) and a nice 0.64 BB/K ratio. Plus that’s a pitcher’s park in a pitcher’s league (if I remember that right, dang BP took out their park factors in their 2010 book).
And I will maintain my godfather status with Ishikawa, despite his clumsiness.

Here is what I'm referring to
BA dropped him from 6 to 8th on their list, and that is with Villalona falling off the Top 10 list, Alderson traded, Noonan falling even further. Though, looking through the list now, I can see why, I would agree that the players they have above him are arguably better. So perhaps I was off there.
However, John Sickel only has him 18th, though at least he’s ranked this year, last season he didn’t even have him on the list. Still, I don’t see him as that low.
And Minor League Baseball Analyst had him 13th last season and 14th this season. In particular, I don’t see how Gillaspie could be ranked above Adrianza, I’m not sure I like the ability of the new authors of this book.
So in my mind, when I wrote that, 3 out of the 4 major publications that I follow had him down lower than I thought he should be. So, really, Roger, I don’t agree with your statement that most people had him highly rated, the experts had a wide range of thoughts, with two out of four having him out of the Top 10, and the third, I think, undervaluing him relative to guys above him.
Because, regarding BA, I think one can make the argument that he is still too low. Adrianza has shown good hitting skills as a pro thus far, hence my points above, and I believe that is much more valuable data than scouts thinking a hitter is good. As my study shows, once you get past the first five picks overall, the talent is not so obvious or clear that scouts can discern who is going to be good. And even for the top five overall, teams are wrong more than half the time, even with the #1 pick. Scouts, while necessary, is not the whole answer.
Meanwhile, BA valued Tommy Joseph above Adrianza, which means that he’s got to be some slugger, because most consider him a future 1B, plus he was drafted all the way back in the second round, 55th pick of the draft, and the odds of any pick that far back becoming such a good player/hitter is pretty slim, under 5%. And I just noted how poorly scouts are in evaluating players in the draft.
And as nicely as Kieschnick hit last season, he struck out way too many times to succeed in the majors without some major adjustment. Plus his batting line against LHP was actually much better than his RHP, which suggests that he’s due for a big fall in 2010 unless he can develop much more, because hitter’s numbers against LHP jumps around because of the small sampling effect, but is usually much more stable against RHP because they face so many. And, in any case, a sub-900 OPS in Advanced A is nothing to be ecstatic about. Adrianza has pitchers and zone figured out, what he needs to do is add on weight and muscle so that pitchers can’t overpower his bat. Meanwhile, he is probably good enough to field in the majors already, whereas no matter how good Kieschnick is, AT&T’s RF is a much higher level of difficulty than most RF.
I think I will stand by my statement, for now, unless someone can give good reasons to change my mind.

I'm going to keep hold of Nate...
Cuz in just a few more years there’s going to be a Chinese catcher that needs to get trucked and I’ve got the guy for the job!
Ducks stackin' wins like Leggos, toastin Pac-10 like the Eggos, like we're racin' against some preggos, Dan Patrick we enfuego.
I’m wiling to release Rohlinger back into the wild.
Wisconsin: Famous for dairy, Ryan Rohlinger and not much else.
I’d like to keep him. He might make a start or two, and I’ll be over the moon with excitement!
A start for Kevin Pucetas is a start for Not Bumgarner. And don't you want Not Bumgarner in the Giants rotation?
I hereby release Benjamin Jose Molina into the draft pool and assert my intent to re-enter the draft.
Signed,
Fwotyoz

I’ll hold on to Bowker for another season. After all of the success of last year, there’s still some unfinished business to tend to in 2010.
Bowkermania had second thoughts about running wild over Venezuela.

I’ll keep Osiris. HE WILL PROVE THE NAYSAYERS WRONG.
Also, he has a really cool name. Osiris. I like saying it.
Osiris, Lord of the Dead, and relief pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.

said this in the later thread
but for the record I’ll drop Aurilia and re-enter the draft
A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.
Sorry I missed this thread earlier...
I’d like to keep my boy Barry for another year. It’d be downright unfatherly to abandon him in the midst of his trials.
Proud father of Barry Bonds.
I'd love to keep mah boy too
