Fred Lewis sure didn’t seem like a man concerned about his job prospects. He told us a few stories about his offseason adventures, laughed easily and generally had an air of relaxed confidence about him.
I stopped by his locker for a few minutes a little later, and he basically said he’s not all that worried about anything. Said he knows how it works: You have a good year, as he did in 2008, and everyone loves you. Have a down year, as he did in 2009, and the love goes away.
"I just have to make ‘em love me again," he said with a smile. Seems to be in a good place mentally.
YAY FRED
I try not to break the rules, but merely to test their elasticity.
“I just have to make ‘em love me again,” he said with a smile.
I never stopped, Fred. I never stopped.

A down year in which you’re ONE OF THE BEST HITTERS ON THE TEAM, I might add.
Fred Lewis: Fuck yeah.
"Why not trade Bumgarner for some banger stud?" - sfgiants.com commenter or online porn ad? You be the judge!
Adopted Giant: the probably soon to be ditched but still awesome Fred Lewis
I wonder what his thoughts about his performance last year really are. I hope he realizes that the management and general public are shortsighted in a lot of ways.
Best of luck to him in spring training.

or at least make some GM interested
I just have to make ‘em love me again
I look forward to him having another good year somewhere other than Fresno (and probably SF).
Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti. "I treat Timmy differently from most pitchers: I leave him alone."
Bengie Molina: "I don't understand why they didn't want to commit to another year, with my numbers and my experience and things like that." Brain Sabean: "He's certainly welcomed back with open arms".
Mychael Urban: Wow. Probably Dye at this point. Good outfielder, could adapt to RF at AT&T, good RBI guy.

Hopefully more Bubbahead commercials with Bengie
will keep FLew on the team. Frandsen doesn’t do commercials so…
Win the inning.

It was reporting day for the Giants’ pitchers and catchers, so it seemed like the Freak would be a pretty easy "get."
Alas, "reporting" to camp these days doesn’t require a player’s physical presence. So Timmy literally phoned it in. And that’s all anyone needed to do Wednesday; no formal workouts were scheduled.
I get it…Timmy must still be pissed with the Giants so he didn’t want to come in
