Horacio Ramirez? Like…Really? I mean, totally seriously???

by FluLikeSymptoms on Feb 1, 2010 1:20 PM PST reply actions

I was like, what? Are they for real? No way.

The Giants Way™"If anybody deserves credit for this year’s turnaround it’s these two people, Brian and Bruce," Neukom said. "The encouraging thing is we think we’re back to playing baseball the way it ought to be played."

Even I can’t make an excuse for this one. I’d rather extend an NRI to Kirk Rueter, and that’s not hyperbole.

are you worried this is going to take AAA start away from Ramon Ortiz?

well then

Horacio Ramirez may be many things, but “meh” is not one of them.

If Vesuvius spewed forth suck instead of molten lava, it would be renamed Mt. Horacio Ramirez.

Waste

Couldn’t they have just given the value of Ramirez’s minor league contract as a bonus to LouSeal or something? Said mascot has a better chance of pitching for the Giants than Horacio Ramirez.

Seriously, this guy’s not worth the bus space required for Spring Training. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when that decision was made.

Sabes: I should have just signed Ramirez last year! I wonder if I could get him cheaply!

Hyper-Aggressive Assistant to the Assistant GM: Mr. Sabean – I got Ramirez for you – CHEAP, just like you wanted.

Sabes: WTF? I didn’t authorize you to make a trade with the Dodgers!!!

How any pitcher with a career 4.16 K/9 has tricked teams into somehow letting him rack up 679.1 innings blows my mind. That has to be one of the worst rates in history, right? 4.16! Holy crap! Is anyone surprised to find out he last pitched last year….for the Royals?

Hello 2010’s version of Ramon Ortiz!

YOU EAT YOUR DAMN EGGROLL

by heimy25 on Feb 1, 2010 1:44 PM PST reply actions

I think Ramirez has about a 1 in 500 chance of being as good as Ortiz was last year.

by pantalones on Feb 1, 2010 1:50 PM PST up reply actions

Excellent timing; this news came right after “Rockies signed LHP Damian Moss to a minor league contract” on the Rotoworld ticker. Um… we win?

by pantalones on Feb 1, 2010 1:52 PM PST reply actions

On second thought, Moss is marginally less sucky, I suppose. But maybe if Ramirez has a good start or two in AAA we can trade him for Rafael Soriano.

We’re clearly in the “for the lulz” part of the offseason for GMs.

Yes, really, I have not updated my blog in a long long time: http://skaldheim.livejournal.com/tag/baseball

I like this deal

If he signs with one of the other NL West teams, he’d probably get one spot start against the Giants & 2-hit us. Sabean is thinking progressively.

Whatever

Getting passable work from bargain bin relievers has actually been one of the stronger points of the FO the last couple years. I will hesitate to complain about nothing for now.

I hope you didn’t mistake my comment for bitching. I could care less, I just think it’s funny just how bad Horacio is! I actually lol’ed when I saw his k-rate.

Well, if you really want to get technical, that saying doesn’t seem to me like it means anything at all, one way or another…

out of Santiago Casilla, Kevin Cameron, Denny Bautista, Byung Hyun Kim, Horacio Ramirez, Tony Pena Jr., And Eric Hacker one of these guys has to be a decent major league reliever right?

He was DFA’d by the Royals? By Dayton Moore? And we signed him? So how many DFA’d Royals do we have now?
