Because we're pretty deep in RP's and he probably doesn't want to play on Fresno

This

Mota was solid, but we don’t have room. We’re already questioning whether to keep Ramirez and Ray, no way Mota stays because he’d bump one of them and they’re both under team control.

Ain't no Posey like a Buster Posey cause a Buster Posey don't stop...hitting.

Ray’s not under team control anymore; he was non-tendered.

I like the look of our bullpen… this is seriously solid stuff and the new hotness in baseball seems to be trying to make everyone’s bullpen mimic ours.

+1

There are at least 6 teams that I can think of that will pay Mota more, and give him a bigger role in their pen than what the Giants can offer. The only way Mota returns is if he loves the Giants so much that he swallows his pride and signs a very team-friendly contract.

One caveat

If Sabes swings a trade and includes any of our relievers then he might try to re-sign Mota to fill an empty spot. I still think that Mota wuold prefer to go to a team that can give him more of an assurance that he’s going to get to pitch on a more regular basis.

Good Point...

also, Mota gave us some good innings in mid May to early June – i think he was the set up man when the other relievers were stinking it up for a while…

OK cool.

Just wanted to make sure. I figured he wouldn’t be back. I thought that they might start Runzler in Fresno though and then have an open spot. I’m sure a scrap heap NRI will have a chance to break camp and head north with the team if they decide to do that.
