Game 5 Pictorial
Wallowing in schoolwork and pinching pennies, I had given up hope of seeing a Giants world series game, even though I now live a reasonable 3 hours from Arlington.
I woke up Monday morning and dejectedly decided to check StubHub to see what king's ransom the scalpers were demanding...only to find that they had dropped by $200 from the previous night and $400 when compared to the start of the series. Rangers fans=fair weather, to my benefit. Standing Room Only for $130. I clicked "buy" before I could second guess myself.
I won't bore you with too much more prose before hitting you with the photos, but the moment that Pat Burrell struck out and Renteria stepped to the plate with runners on base, a profound sense of calm settled over me. I knew that he was going to get the job done. As a Giants fan since I can remember (roughly 1988), this was a new feeling to me. It's the closest I've ever come to a religious experience.
Fun fact: The only game I was able to attend last year was the one where Edgar Renteria hit the game-winning grand slam off of Rafael Betancourt. The only one I was able to attend this year, well, I think you all know how this one ended...
On to the pictures:
Conveniently placed tree.
My view (I gave up on getting food and rationed out my water so that I wouldn't have to pee and abandon my primo position--remember, I had no seat).
THE Strike Three.
Release.
PROOF!
I was there!

The Giants fans, distilled from the teeming hordes of Texans.

Flem!
This photo cracks me up.
Sabean and his draft pick--can't argue with the results.
Kruk and Kuip!
Can you find: Bumgarner, Freddy Sanchez, Matt Cain and JT Snow?
Huff getting interviewed without any pants on.
Timmy escaping from a reporter.
Will the Thrill on CSN.
"WHERE'S THE MACHINE!?"
I reluctantly departed--here's my final view of the scene.
The final K of 2010!

My mind ain't nuthin' but a total blank, I think I'll just stay here and draaank - Merle Haggard
Awe...that's cool...
After looking at the all the professional shots from the official sources your pics have a different excitement. They are from the perspective of a FAN! Someone who had to jockey for a good view. We see it from your perspective in the stands, buried amongst the throngs of people! I get more of a feeling of being there looking at your pics because your are the angle I would have had… seeing it with people in the way, craning my neck for a better view, not with a press pass and a 100 million dollar camera! Thanks for making me feel like I was there, Nice!
Yo, I'm new.
But have been reading for a while now. I wanted to post a picture. Can I just do it? I swear I saw someone get chastised one time for being new and posting a pic. lol.
Go giants!

"Lee pitches...Renteria hits a high drive, deep left-center field, David Murphy going back, he's on the warning track—it is...go-one!"
I love the scorecard images.
Dammit, should’ve done it even though I was listening on the radio at home.
Ryan Rohlinger lives in my basement. I let him out to play baseball.
Great pictures!
The Giants coming back out on the field to share with their fans is almost unprecedented. These shots document that better than almost any regular news organization, almost all of those were caught flatfooted by the Giants doing that.
Wonderful shots of the players. I love that they saluted their fans.
Kuip just showed in that photo why we’re so lucky to have K&K as our broadcasters. Deadpan humor and irony. A sense of proportion on the game.
"It's too LATE to stop now!" - John Lee Hooker
THANKS
Was lucking enough to be there. All my pictures and video suck because i was shaking so much. The chants and bad jokes by all the fans were awesome. Kuip with the Torture signs was epic. At one point, while the Giants and their families were partying on the field, the fans chanted “Thank You Giants”. The whole team turned and listened. Best part of the night.
Wow, these photos are great. Thanks for posting them!
Osiris, Lord of the Dead, and relief pitcher for the Fresno Grizzlies.
Fantastic pictures
Really captured the moment, and the mood, perfectly.
SRO for only $130? Money well-spent, I’d say.

These are great – thanks for posting them!
I feel prickishly demanding!
I couldn't be prouder of my recent adoptee - Tim Lincecum's dealer. He provides the secret fuel behind both Cy Youngs. Also, he taught Timmy the change-up.
