Since Joe Buck is so lame...
If you were commentating game 5, how would you have called Renteria's 3 run home run, and Wilson's final strikeout to win the title? Joe Buck was pretty lame, Renteria's HR: "hit high in the air into deep center field, Murphy on the RUN(really needed to emphasize that huh joe), 3 Run home run Renteria". I mean that was pretty lame, if I wasn't a giants fan, that wouldn't be really all that exciting. I personally would have been Gus Johnson-esque, something on the lines of this(caps show yelling), " IT'S HIT HIGH AND DEEP, BACK AT THE WARNING TRACK AND...GONE!!!! A 3 RUN HOME RUN BY EDGAR RENTERIA, A SHOT THAT COULD BRING HOME A WORLD SERIES BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO!!! WHAT A SHOT!, AND THE GIANTS LEAD IT 3-0".
Now for Wilson's final strike, here's joe's call: " Here it is...Struck him Out! and for the first time since 1954, the Giants have won the world series". Worst, title-clinching call ever, I mean really Fox couldn't get a better announcer out there?. I would probably say something like this(again Caps show yelling): "The 3-2 pitch...SWING AND A MISS! AND THE GIANTS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS! BRIAN WILSON DARTS A FASTBALL RIGHT BY CRUZ, AND WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE FEAT BY THIS TEAM, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, RISE UP AND CELEBRATE BAY AREA, BECAUSE THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS COMING HOME!"
Joe Buck is the worst commentator ever, especially in this situation, but how would you guys call those 2 plays?

I never thought Renteria’s was going to be a home run. I was actually hoping it would drop so that the CF and LF wouldn’t get to it.

I believe my words were something like, " Rally Gar that f*&% thing better *(^&$$ fall in" in a tone that made the dog startle and growl at the TV.
The Giants are 2010 World Series Champs. … And in other news the forecast calls for a rain of toads, heavy at times, with moderate to strong swarms of locust and a high likelihood of a world quake. Details at 11.
In my honest opinion, the two calls were not bad at all. I, like WalrusMan, expected that ball to drop so the “Murphy on the run” really got me more excited. After the ball cleared the fence and after Cruz struck out, I was screaming so hard that I could not hear the TV anyway. Listening to them again, though, I still enjoyed it somewhat. Of course, Flem and Kuip’s call were amazing.
I think Buck's calls were fine.
Your proposed calls are only good for the local radio broadcast (Flem and Kuip did a great job capturing the moments btw). It seems way too loud and verbose for TV. Plus, Buck’s calls would’ve sounded more excitable if the game had taken place at AT&T.
PbP calls always sound better when plays are in favor of the home team/crowd. But that’s just me.

Buck isn't that great, but I think he did a decent job
Tim McCarver on the other hand is super annoying. He points out certain things that are either very obvious, or something that you wouldn’t care much to hear about. It got on my nerves how Fox rarely showed the pitch tracker on very close pitches during the NLCS. I remember countless times where there would be a pitch that was either called a strike or ball and they were obviously bad calls. When they did show it, McCarver would ignore it at times. For instance, I believe Renteria was called out on strikes and they showed that the location was obviously outside the zone on the tracker, but McCarver would say that it caught the outside of the plate. Then when a Giants pitcher would hit the same location, McCarver would say it was outside. The little comments that McCarver makes sometimes makes you scratch your head, or go “WHAT?”.
incorrect
Tim McCarver has always been horrible.

Anyone remember when McCarver was the Giants Color Guy a few years ago?
There’s a reason why he got ran out of town…he’s not very good.
my personal favorite was when Rowand threw out Ruiz in the NLDS, an McCarver’s comment was “he overthrew his cutoff man”. Huh? Idiocy of the purest stran

McCarverism: Gonzalez (random player) is 5-10 for his career with the bases loading including 3 home runs. In fact, he has 3 grand slams in his career with the bases loaded.

slightly OT
I just have to shoehorn this in somewhere. Kuip’s call of Gerald’s HR in Game 4 was awesome.
“Here’s the 2-2 pitch …”
“And Posey hits a high fly ball, center field …” Alert but not overly excited — like Buck and whoever the Rangers guy is, Kuip had little reason to believe it was a HR off the bat.
“Hamilton back …” Still little indication that this is anything but a routine (if deep) fly ball.
“Hamilton still back …” Now the excitement creeps in.
“Hamilton at the wall!” I love it.
“Out of here!”
Kuip’s call along with Buck’s and the Rangers guy’s. The Rangers guy completely though it was a routine fly off the bat.
The “out of here” thing is getting a little long in the tooth.

the rangers announcer
sounded more excited at giant’s plays then buck did
bring back vinnie
this is the thing, whether you are “for” or “against” the team these were big moments. Buck didn’t got excited, nor did he give the crowd a chance to tell the story. Just, Buck, the an NFL preview. He’s not as bad as 2002, but i think it because he cares so little about he whole thing.

Agreed. Buck’s biggest fault is that he can be dull and fail to get excited in big moments. However, he certainly raised his voice in anticipation of a big moment here, without appearing to be rooting for either team.
I think Buck has been okay throughout the NLCS and World Series. McCarver is non-sensical as usual.

I like the Flem's call!
I would call it just like Flem did:
Lee pitches…Renteria hits a high drive, deep left-center field, David Murphy going back, he’s on the warning track, IT IS…GOOONNNNE! Edgar Renteria…has hit a three-run homer…against Cliff Lee! And the Giants lead here in the World Series, 3-0! Edgar Renteria, the World Series hero, and its 3-0 here…the Giants are nine outs away…
I don’t know if his voice crack on “IT IS GOOONNNE!” was accidental but it certainly captured the moment for me! The broadcaster is consumed by the moment. It was analogous to the “Shot heard around the world” call for me. BTW this call has been added to his bio on Wikipedia! Dave Flemming
I'm utterly positive the insta-puberty was accidental
but I think it’s awesome. I agree it’s similar in magnitude to Hodges’, and I really love that his emotion came out through his voice just breaking down rather than shouting like so many announcers otherwise do.
Also, it’s so funny I think it totally guarantees that the Fox call goes to the scrapheap of history.

I think Flem’s Kermit-esque call is somewhat explained by the fact that Flem’s voice was kind of shot—hadn’t he been getting over a cold or something? So he missed the high note. Great call, though.

How the playoffs should be announced
So while we were watching the playoffs my Dad came up with an interesting idea that I think Fox executives should jump on. Really it’s two ideas, either of which I think would work.
1. Have the home team’s regular TV announcers call innings 1-3 and 8-9, then have the visiting announcers call 4-7.
2. Home team’s regular TV announcers call the entire game.
The idea being that it would give fans a glimpse into the teams playing, from the perspective of those who watch them most. While some of the announcers around the game are absolute homers, I think they would tone it down for the playoffs, and if they didn’t at lease we could all point and laugh at what gigantic douches they are. Also, the home announcers typically have a better understanding of player’s strengths and weaknesses and would stay away from all of the ridiculous so and so’s favorite player growing up or human interest type pieces and stick to baseball. Given that Buck and McCarver are terrible and while not everyone hates them, I’m yet to run into someone who actually likes them. I think that this should be adopted immediately for all postseason games next year.

Soup Campbell is decent, not great, but he’s not a doddering idiot like McCarver. Schulman is a very good play-by-play guy and he clearly likes baseball.

I think
the better thing would be to have the analysts switch for a few innings. So Kruk would go over to the Rangers’ booth for a few, and their analyst would work with Kuip for a few. I don’t really enjoy watching the opponent’s feed; in this case it would have been ok but you would be promoting some really awful announcers if Arizona ever makes it back.
