Now for the real highlight of the year: the fifth annual Willie Lee McCovey Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence AKA the McCoveys! These awards have a long, rich tradition stretching way back to 2006. They're a chance to ridicule recognize our fellow posters and let them know how much we like them (but not "like" like). Last year, we held them in the middle of October. I wonder what pushed it off this year? Anyway, let us begin.

The categories are:

Outstanding Newcomer
Who is this year's Buster Posey (or last year's Edinson Volquez)? A n00b who didn't act like a n00b. This person appeared out of nowhere and fit right in with the rest of this gang of misfits and lovable scamps. The cutoff date for new people would be between now and whenever the last award was given out.

Most Informative Poster
If you needed some prime info on a player or an explanation for some obscure statistic, he or she always had the answer. 

Most Amusing Poster
Whenever you see one of this poster's comments, your monitor gets drenched with [beverage] from laughing uncontrollably, and everyone around you stares at you thinking you're insane.

McSpirit Award
The McC version of the Willie Mac awards. This person helps make McC the awesome place that it is. Time to give them some props.

Best Images
There used to be two categories for images - one for GDTs and one for non-GDTs. However, since the boundaries have more or less blurred now, I thought it would be best to have one megacategory. The top three pictures will be the winners.

Best Fanpost
Due to the enormous number of Fanposts we create, this category has three winners. This award is for the fanposts that made you think, challenged your opinions, or just gave you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Be sure to take a trip down memory lane and check out some of the older Fanposts, so those don't get neglected. The three subcategories are:

Head: Thought-provoking, informative and educational
Heart: Inspiring, touching and emotional
Funny Bone: Hilarious, amusing, and... funny
