MORE THAN SIX OF THEM
Look at my website. Look at it. || Screw Johnsonville Sausages and Safeway. I have my reasons. || I pity the fool that falls in love with [THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS]
If I remember correctly,
There is a podium/wall in the main entrance to the offices between Mejita and The Dugout. It had a bunch of stands for trophies. We have a few to display this year.

OH YEAH!
I just got back from Nawlins, had to watch the game recorded. Still hasn’t hit me. Thank you so much to everyon who made this possible. We did, we fucking did it.

Me neither
It’s like the opposite of Christmas morning as a kid, ’cause the awesome stuff already happened.

The parade on Wednesday is going to be fantastic.
Opening Day 2011 in SF, with the raising of the championship flag, is going to be unforgettable.
Lording it over Dodgers fans for (at least) the next 12 months is going to be a great reason to get out of bed every morning.

I don't really believe in "clutch"
but how do you explain someone like Rent? 34 years old, plagued by injuries, only a year removed from slugging .328 in 510 PA. Most of those types of guys would be lucky to still have a job, not to talk about being on a playoff roster. Now all of a sudden he hits 2 homeruns and plays great defense like he’s in his prime again. It’s just unbelievable.
WOOOOO 2010 WORLD CHAMPION SF GIANTS!!!!!!!
Sooooooooooooo proud, happy, (drunk), excited, adrenaline-fueled right now.
So who else cried? I know Edgar Renteria and I did…

In total shock...
I immediately jumped up and said: “We’re heading downtown”… Then the cab ride to 3rd and king, and some drinks in that hood with other fans. Then I headed home, and its just now, sitting and watching the postgame run over and over on CSNBayArea, and watching you all post that I’m finally opening up to the idea of WS champion enough to tear up.

I thought I was too calm about this game the whole time through. Then the bottom of the 9th started and I just immediately began to, like, hyperventilate and sob uncontrollably. Didn’t stop until like 15-20 minutes after the last pitch.

I think we’re gonna be waiting a while. Although, I have to admit, the way this Giants squad came together so much more quickly than I anticipated really does give me some hope that Steph Curry is already our Tim Lincecum/Matt Cain who will carry us through a couple dark years and now we’re just waiting for our Buster Posey/Madison Bumgarner to arrive.

I would like to bid the Rest of McCoven a wonderful rest of your evening/early morning.
I must unfortunately retire to my bed and sleep with a smile on my face as I dream of pride generations of Giants fans are feeling on this day. Ok time for me to not talk all proper and shit. Thanks for all the laughs, tears, and “wtf?” moments these past 7 months. HEY NOW WE’RE THE CHAMPIONS FOR THE WORLD (literally).
Congrats to us, congrats to the players, and congrats to everyone who roots for Good to triumph over Evil! When I wake up tomorrow and see the Giants carrying the trophy into AT&T Park…I will puff out my chest in pride and say “THAT’S MY TEAM!” SO…FTK, SoCal…you an make a long narrow column with this post if you wish. you are very welcome! my first game was at the ‘stick when I was around 7-8 yrs old. My grandpa took me and my sister, we darn near froze, but we had blankets and hot chocolate. I watched him keep score, the would tell us about the player, I loved seeing him get so excited. It’s because of him I became a Giants fan. Grandpa passed last summer, even on his “bad” days, he loved to talk Giants, watching games right up to the last day, I know he was waiting for this day to come, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Part of the tears tonight were of grieving that he was so close to seeing his beloved Giants, I just know he would have gotten such a kick out of it, would have loved to had heard him talk about seeing what we witnessed tonight :D
*sorry, didn’t mean to get so mushy, but he’s why I ended up here, I took up the tortch, for “torture”! ;)

Go Giants
My only regret about this evening is that I wasn’t sitting in Noe’s on 24th & Church, like I was in the ‘80s, experiencing this whole moment with you all. For all the times I sat in Candlestick, windswept and besotten by the Pacific Sock Exchange, this was worth the wait. I’m so happy that everyone in San Francisco will be showing up late to work tomorrow.
Congratulations — and that’s the very least I could give to you all. I never wished I was in another American city more than I do right now.

is this some sort of all-nighter thread?
Proud adopted parent of the ball dudes, who have grounded into 109 fewer double plays than the Giants.
Gotta go to bed I guess (just watched every postgame interview). The following is exaggeration, but I could care less.
So many heroes. We don’t win this series without Bumgarner (Game 4). We don’t win this series without Cain (Game 2). We don’t win this series without Lincecum (Game 5). We don’t win this series without Uribe (homers and defense). We don’t win this series without Huff (homer). We don’t win this series without Renteria (clutchiosity). We don’t win this series without Torres (tone-setter). We don’t win this series without F Sanchez (defense and doubles). We don’t win the NLCS without Ross (everything). We don’t win the NLCS without Sandoval (double). We don’t win the NLCS without Wilson (saves). We don’t win the NLCS without Rowand (throw). We don’t win the NLCS without Lopez (quality pitching). We don’t win the NLCS without Affeldt (Game 6 saver).
We don’t get into the playoffs without J Sanchez (big starts). We don’t get into the playoffs without Burrell (hitting). We don’t get into the playoffs without Ramirez (strikeout). We don’t get into the playoffs
We don’t even get first place without Posey (season changer).
Fontenot came in and provided stability for a short while when we needed it in the NLDS. Casilla, save one appearance, threw fire and was effective almsot every time. Mota ate innings and rested the pen. Schierholtz and Ishikawa played clutch defense. Every win Zito got was needed. Whiteside allowed Posey to rest. We don’t get to the playoffs without all of these guys.
And above all, thank you Brooks Conrad.

Thanks
I just wanna say thanks to everyone at McC. I don’t post here a whole lot, but reading makes me feel like a part of something. Living in San Diego, I’ve been yearning to be back home in the bay to experience this. It’s been fun celebrating with the Giants fans down here, but it just doesn’t feel the same. I talked to my brother on the phone tonight after the game and we were just dumbfounded. We didn’t know how to feel. We had nothing to bitch about. It was amazing. I think we both got a little choked up. He took me to my first game when i was about 5 years old and we spent many a cold night/day at the Stick. So many great memories of watching and talking Giants throughout the years. This is so surreal right now.
Thank you Giants for making what we thought would only be a dream, a reality. I will never forget this season. I can’t wait to see my brother on Friday when i fly home. I’m pretty sure we’ll give each other a big hug and say “The Giants won the World Series!”
Amazing. Just Simply Amazing!

I must confess...
1. I knew we had it after Game 2. I’d seen enough of the Rangers by then to know their hitting just wasn’t up to it and their pitching could be beat. We just weren’t going to lose four out of five to them.
2. I keep rechecking baseball-reference.com every 10 minutes just to enjoy the box score and series summary and soak it all in.
FYI we were just the 5th team in the wild-card era to have a sub-1.00 playoff WHIP if you subtract the intentional walks. 2001 Arizona and 2005 White Sox also got the hardware. ’96 and ’97 AtLOLanta not so much.

1. That was way too much confidence.
But once Timmy sat them down in the 5th and the score was 0-0, I knew they weren’t going to learn how to play clownball in time to save themselves. I just didn’t know how long it would take.

Final thought
There will be a parade. A flag will fly, forever.
We have 5 great starters if Zito… We have Wilson… We have Affeldt who showed flashes of his 2009 form in the playoffs. We have Romo and Runzler and other good young arms. Zack Wheeler anyone just when Zito’s contract is moveable?
We have Posey, our Baseball Jesus, the Rightful ROY… We have Freddy Sanchez and we have Andres Torres, and Cody Ross after arbitration… We have Pablo Sandoval who I hope will get it put in his ear by someone he really respects, someone with stature like a Felipe Alou, how much better it would have been to be on the field for the last out…
We have the inside track to resigning Huff, and Uribe, too, if the dollars are right. We have the hardware and an organizational philosophy and fan base that will be very attractive to free agents; our players are telling their ex-teamates that this is a place you want to play even if it means a little less money.
We really do have the makings of a potential dynasty, one built around pitching like the early 60’s Dodgers or the Orioles of a half-decade later. If Torres is the real deal and Sanchez stays healthy, and Panda drops some weight and becomes effective again, we are essentially one bat away from being an utterly dominant soul-crushing force in the NL.
It’s not insane to consider a 100 win campaign next season with a full year of Buster and Bum and no aberrations like our record this year against the Padres (who, I am reliably informed, choked). And whatever the regular season record, I wouldn’t bet against this core of players and some new faces being not just perennial contenders but actually in the World Series a couple of times over the next 4 to 6 years.
Enjoy the parade, and enjoy the afterglow of this triumph. But don’t get complacent. Want more, expect more. There are 29 teams for whom next year has already started and they want to steal our precious. Pack the stands, rock the house, and never forget that dollars in equals championships out.

i think he wants a contract…and he is young enough where a 3 year makes sense
Everyone do yourself a favour and watch all the interviews on CSN's website.
Watching it you realise just how amazing this team is, and that guys WILL be back for next year. I think it’s physically impossible not to smile during a Cody Ross interview. The guy is so classy and he LOVES being a Giant.

Congrats to you guys and your championship team. I was rooting hard for you in two of the three postseason series you played…
There’s nothing more satisfying as a baseball fan than to go out every night knowing you have the pitching not just to be competitive, but to dominate. What your guys did this last month, against two very solid lineups (plus the Braves), went far, far beyond that—some of the best mound performances I’ve ever seen in October/November. And they’re all still kids, throwing to a catcher who will get better and better.
You guys earned this through all those painful years. Cherish it; it’ll keep you warm all winter, and a long while beyond that.

I'd like to thank the National League All-Stars
For beating the AL for the first time since 1996. It may not have mattered, but it sure felt like starting at home helped.
Speaking of the NL
I get the impression that the Phils, Braves and the Padres would have beat this Ranger team. I think the worm has turned, pitching is now trumps all.

Sometimes you just have to make your own luck.
Ghosts
When I think about this World Series wins the first thing that comes to my mind is Ghosts. I mean when you lose for more then 60 years you tend to lose some ghosts that have faded. I mean you cant hold on to memories from 1920, but when you look at a team that hasn’t won the series for 56 years all the ghosts are still there. They are old men, legends, who played long ago who can only sit and watch the game today. They are those legends who have recently died (here’s to you Bobby Thomson). They are fans who used to cross the Harlem river to see the games, and still loved the team even when it moved 3000 miles away. They’re the people who remember their childhoods at Seal Stadium, and had to wait a lifetime to see glory. They’re the people who grew up hoping Bonds would get a ring, hoping Clark would get a ring, hoping Marichal would get a ring. But now the ghosts are all gone, and all these people can, at least for one day, be young again. Thank you 2010 Giants.
Also P.S.
It was a very classy move by the Rangers fans to clap at the end of the series. The Rangers are a class act and I can only wish them and there fans the best.

I’ll admit I froze the moment I first saw the World Series trophy tonight, with its golden circle of fluttering flags, bobbing just above a crowd of soaked players in a corner of the clubhouse.
Is there a better-looking, classier trophy in sports?
Don’t give me silver footballs, crystal footballs or whatever that pottery shard is that passes for a World Cup trophy. There is nothing cooler than a World Series trophy. End of discussion.
I know we are in love with the Giants and the world series right now, but there is little doubt that Lord Stanley’s Cup is the greatest sports trophy in the world.

absolutely
rec’d very hard. Every one of those trophies is a literally an attempt to imitate the Cup. If it hasn’t fed racehorses and dogs, poured champagne, had children baptized in it, been thrown in the river, and been engraved with the name of (and held for a day by) everyone that ever played on a winning team, it’s third trophy at best.
Also, that damned thing they gave Renteria almost put his eyes out. I liked Timmy’s description as “shiny”, and that he tried to give it to Chris Rose as soon as his interview was done.
